I made a decision to remain optimistic and hopeful despite what happens to me. Even after the reelection of Bush and the passing of anti-gay amendments in 11 states, I am still optimistic that the struggle for equal rights will be to our advantage. But my real question is, is it wise to be optimistic nowadays? I'm aware that many of you are cynics but I'd still like to know.

I try to follow a mixed policy: Plan for the worst and hope for the best.

What actually happens is almost always something in between.

I operate on an optomistic foundation, that sort of had its springboard in a suicidal period. I went from the thought pattern of "You know, being dead would be better than facing the next day" to "The only mistake I cannot fix is death. I can work to imrpove anything else from there." Never belittle whatever accomplishments you have. Even if it's just getting up in the morning and remembering to eat breakfast. Trust me, I've been there, and lost the five pounds to prove it. It's a sucky way to lose weight, *wry grin* because you can never remember how you did it. Shock erases lots of memory. Anyways. Aside from that? The ability to laugh at everything and anything, including myself. Life is absurd, oftentimes funny. Might as well appreciate that fact while we're here.

Another thing. Despite the stupidity and corruption prevalent amongst us, I want to believe that human beings are good at heart. It sounds idealistic, I know but ideals mold us into better people.
