View Full Version : What's that bulge in your pants...?

Now that I've roped you into this thread with a suggestive title, I'm going to bore you with the actual subject. Wallets.

I've been carrying the same basic wallet for quite a few years now, and I think it's time for something new. I don't like to carry my wallet in my back pocket, because it's uncomfortable to sit on, but it's too much of a bulge in my front pocket. Usually, I don't carry it at all (put it in the center console when I'm driving, in my desk drawer at work, etc.)

I was considering a simple money clip (not that I ever have money), but something I can also carry a few cards with, and that fits comfortably in my front pocket, so I'm not so prone to leaving my wallet at work, or in the car. Something like this (http://www.fossil.com/jump.jsp?itemType=PRODUCT&itemID=19550).

Guys -- what do you carry? Wallet? Money Clip? Man Purse?

I use a wallet and I keep it in my back pocket. It's not all that thick though, as I try to trim it down with regular purges. Plus, it's fairly sizeable in area, thus the cards are spread out more than in a standard size wallet.

I don't mind the back pocket bulge, it's only really a pain when I leave it in there and then lay down in bed for a nap.

Relatively slim wallet in the front right pocket. Used to be the right rear pocket until a couple years ago, but saw someone or heard about the front pocket preference and decided it'd be nice not to sit on a lump anymore.

It's the one that says "Bad Motherfucker"

Seriously though, I just carry a bit of cash, DL, and a couple cards with me in a money clip. Used to carry a wallet, but it was kind of annoying really, i ended up keeping too much crap in it.

I have a really cool zip-up leather wallet. The zipper is nice because it ensures that nothing falls out...which is important because I have more crap than actually money in there, most of the time.

My rotten, good for nothing kid has that one, so he's not allowed to use his wallet in front of his granny.

Maybe I should get a wallet like that. "OH SORRY! MY WALLET HAS THE FUCK WORD ON IT, SO I CAN'T PAY!"

Up until about six years ago, I carried my standard leather wallet in my back left pocket. That was when, after several visits to my chiropractor with back pain in the same spot, he started grilling me about my habits. That's when he found out about the wallet. His orders: Stop sitting on your wallet. Once his directive was followed, the recurrent back problems were considerably reduced in frequency. I now carry it in my left front pocket.

My wallet fluctuates in its thickness, dependant upon how much crap I've been shoving into it and how often I purge it.

I keep my wallet in my right rear pocket, but I wish that man-purses were more acceptable. I don't keep much in my wallet, but it would be nice to have a little bag to keep useful odds and ends in...I used to wear a fanny-pack, but I quit using it for a reason that I don't remember. Before I leave the house I always check to make sure that I've got my five essentials (wallet, bag, work ID tag, phone, and keys) and it sure would be nice to have a man-purse to keep all that together.

(yeah, I know that I used a lot of but's in that post, but... :P )

I used to use a regular wallet in my front pocket but now I'm using the slim front pocket wallet like the one shown in the link in the OP more, it's a lot easier to put in and take out, plus it helps to cut down on my stuffing the wallet habit. I also occasionally use a man purse since I need to carry around additional things too. I don't worry about how acceptable a man purse is since I'm already gay. :P

Old-fashioned wallet, front right pocket.

In New York, I carried it in my front left, and had a 'Mugging wallet' in the front right.

What if it works like a toggle switch, though? Like how if you get hit on the head with an anvil or a safe or something and you get amnesia, the only cure is for you to get hit on the head again.

That purse could actually turn you straight.

I carry my cash in my front pocket, and my wallet in my back pocket. Reason being, you can lose your wallet, or your cash, but not both.

The only time I actually have my wallet in my pocket, though, is if I'm going out somewhere, and even then, it's really thin because I only carry ID and plastic.

Any other time, my wallet is in the side pouch of my work bag, which goes back and forth to work and nowhere else.

That is a great idea...I can't believe I didn't think of that.

Regular wallet in front right pocket. I could go with a slimmer wallet or a money clip if I didn't have such a fascination with rewards cards and programs.

I occasionally carry a mugging wallet on the inside pocket of a jacket, but only if I know I'm going to some seedy places. I almost wish someone would steal the damn thing. It's terribly decrepit, but I can't bring myself to throw it away because it still fulfills its purpose.

How the hell can you carry a wallet in your front pocket?

By placing it in your front pocket by maneuvering it there with your hand. I can't imagine putting it in a back pocket.

I have a wallet...wallet. I dunno. I've just always called it a wallet. You put money and cards in it. Beyond that I have no idea what it is.

Um... Pocket designed for carrying things. Wallet = thing of sufficiently small dimension. Place thing in pocket. Voila.

I'm not sure I understand the objection.

yeah, but if you carry a man purse, you obviously like using butts...

Ha!

Is this mic on?

Anywho, I think I'm going to order the front pocket wallet I linked to in my OP. It's only $20, I could probably sell it for $10 if I don't like it. It'll be tough to adjust, since I carry a lot of cards with me. Maybe I'll only use it when I don't have anywhere else to store my wallet. Although the multiple wallet thing is just asking for trouble with someone as absent minded as me.

I hate carrying things in trouser (:unitedstates: pants) pockets, other than a handkerchief. I don't like keys or coins in my pockets when I walk and I don't like wallets, even slim ones, when I sit down. So I go everywhere with a moonbelt (:unitedstates: fanny pack). This is pretty conventional for shopping and travelling, much less so for work. But I still do it.

Does everybody else notice how all those companies want you to carry "their" card? The regional grocery chains operating in the area all want you to carry one of their "discount cards". I refuse them and forego the "savings". Then, my employer wants me to carry more cards around with me on the campus. I've got coffee punch cards, sandwich cards, video cards, and....book cards. That's not to mention the health insurance card, driver's license and plastic already carried.

Bah my local grocery store has phone numbers stored so "Oh I forgot my card my number is (Give My Moms number cause its her card not mine)" Works just as well as the card. The other grocery store gives out tiny ones that go on key chains.

Now I don't have a wallet, up untill last year I didn't have a purse either...I just let things run wild in my pockets (If I needed to put things in a "safe" place I stick them in my bra...)

but recelently I've started using a purse....and everything just runs loose in that....plus its just big enough to fit my chain maille box into. In fact I bought it because it is just the right size to put my chain maillie box into ;)

I've been using (area code) 123-4567. That seems to be a valid account in pretty much every area code. It's like you're in some big secret club with all the other people buying groceries on that account. Plus, if the store lists your total monthly expenses at the bottom of your receipt, toward the end of the month, it'll sometimes show that you spent, like, $10,000 that month alone!

They must think I'm a pretty important guy to be eating so much food.
