I got my first call!

This year, I put an ad in the Yellow Pages for a business I'm starting called Image Keepers Photo Restore, and the book hit the streets last week. Today I got my first call. I have a couple of dozen old photographs to scan onto a disk for my new client, and about half of those need some minor fixes: colour correction, scratches and marks removed, that kind of thing. (Thank the good lord above that none of them have unslightly shadows to remove from bad photography! :P ) :vibes:

I'm in business! :yay:

It's kind of scary, I must say. I never suffered from nerves in a business call when I worked for Yellow Pages; but now that I'm doing it for myself, the call gave me butterflies and I felt a bit skeered. :scaredbaby:

But I'll get past that in time. :yup:

Anyway, I've got the guys at RetouchPro.com giving me some advice on those shadows, but even the expert old hands appear to be having some trouble. Still, it's all good learnin'! :yup:

I'm hoping this lady will be very happy with my work, too. I spoke at length with her, and we got along very well. She is a business mentor and also involved in the arts community, and a great networker by the sounds of it. I was honest with her in that I was just starting out, and she seemed to really like that, suggesting that she may be able to help me out with introductions, etc, in the future.

I've got the images to scan - there's 106 of them! And after putting them on disc, I'll go over which pics she wants retouched. Only a couple are what I'd actually call "damaged".

And yes, I already have a story or two - an elderly man who played in a dance hall band when he was young, and a gorgeous woman laughing with her parents on her 21st birthday in 1947.

I was so worried that I was spending $650.00 on an ad in the Yellow Pages and would not get many calls from it throughout the year, but I figured it was worth a punt. And am I ever glad I thought to risk it! The book is so new on the streets and I've had TWO damn calls already! :hyperb:
