View Full Version : It's an insult, Jim, but not as we know it. Sort of.

Well, this week I are be mostly spending lots of time and money at the post office sending my manuscript (doesn't that sound posh) to various agents.

Already I have a reply! But it was a 'no'. Scribbled at the bottom of the letter I had typed - no thought of using a clean sheet of your own paper, eh?

But there was good news. The agent said my story was good, just not in the category she usually deals with. So it was a rejection, but almost encouraging at the same time.

I may not be any further along my road to fame and fortune but at least now I know I'm slightly less shit than I thought I was.

First, Veritas, good on you for having written a manuscript. Whatever comes of it, you've done what most people only tell themselves they could do!

Second, Crumb, that smiley just looks like a gendarme. Are French cops gay?

Let me put it this way: always, always, always validate your metro ticket.

I'm going through a downer today. Telling myself over and over again that I'll never get an agent or a publisher, I'm shit, I'm a loser, etc etc. So I thought I'd sign in here and let y'all do it for me.

I know they say, keep going, keep trying, but when the knockbacks build up, it's hard. I can't think of what else I could, or want to, do besides write, and when I contemplate never being published, I despair.

Ho hum. I hope this passes, because when I'm like this, anything I write stinks of depression.

Thank you for adopting my suggested title.

Now take it away again. :glare: Not good for the downers.

Definitely better.

And too quick! I was about to post Stop snivelling you snot-nosed haggis-brained piece of self-pitying humanity, and write more query letters and another bloody book.I'm glad I didn't have to.

I'm a self-pitying, snot-nosed, snivelling Scottish scumbag.

Self quoting is a sign of insecurity.

I really need lessons in insulting. JoeP makes me feel very inferior in that department.

It's wonderful that you completed your book. I'm looking forward to when I can get it in hardcover! :seestars:

Another great benefit to your accomplishment is that we get to see you here more often.
