I have a black light and a uv light in the living room. Though I do think that a red bulb might work a little better than the effect of the blue one in the room.

The term blacklight is used for lights that produce UV and little visible light. There are the super hot black painted incandescents that rely on the small amount of UV produced by the filament or the tubes that have a black coating instead of a florescent one which produce lots of UV.

That looks just like an apartment I used to do lots of drugs in.

For an all-black effect, I recommend scaring up some duvotene instead of plastic bags. Duvotene is available from theatrical-supply places, and it is very black and opaque without being quite so, erm, dissipated-looking.

Actually it is landscaping plastic from Lowe's. We got the small roll of 10x100ft.

So far I've only done my bedroom, but my roommates said they wouldn't mind if I did the rest of the apartment.

It reminds me of my brother-in-law's place before he was my brother-in-law, blacklights, waterbed mattress on the floor, beads in the doorways. If it wasn't for the "wild and crazy guys" denim leisure suit and floppy hat I would've thought he was cool.

damn, really?

i once painted my room all black and liked it well enough, but a whole apartment, wow, i think i would prefer a little contrast.

We had one of my friend's homes done up that way for about 8 months, it is where I got the idea. Still don't get why my roommates won't let me do up the windows, or at least stick the foam board in there.

I would get beads to block out the whiteness of the kitchen, but I'm a little low on funds. Maybe the girls who keep bringing that stuff up when I talk about doing the room will go get us some...

Har, funny.

Haven't had any female love intrests in there, but I have had females in there. Plus I don't plan on having any sex in there anyways, I plan on waiting till I get married and even if I was married or close to marriage, that bed is too scary to do anything in. Hell I don't feel comfortable sleeping in it most of the time, it is too high off the ground, very loud and loves to sway.
