We are having a second annual Bertrand Russell Party (http://www.seebs.net/log/archives/000231.html). The first Bertrand Russell Party (http://www.seebs.net/log/archives/000110.html) was a great deal of fun, so we'll do another.

The idea is simple: A party for all the people who aren't invited to any parties. Ours is December 24th, afternoon through night. Anyone near Saint Paul is of course welcome to drop by, or to pass this invitation on to others.

Simple, huh?

Well, you can always organize your own. It seems to take two or three people to make one of these happen.

How about one? :(

I think it's a great idea, seebs. :yup: (So, um, how about editing out the html in your op and replacing with vB code? You know, just so I don't keen every time I open this thread.)

Could work. Just call people up, let 'em know... Could work out.

Does sound like a great idea though. Even if I am going to parties already. :D

I dunno where in Oklahoma you are, warrenly, but maybe it would benefit you to get in touch with some of these groups so that you can make non-redneck, non-fundy friends?

Both URL's are malformed; they have an extraneous 'http://"' at the beginning.

I was fortunate enough to meet BibleBelted and WorldTraveler at one Atheist Meetup, AFAIK they've both been to none since and I maybe a half dozen times (WT lives in Wichita now). I found the group in general not to be to my taste, too many angry activists, which is not what I was seeking from the group. I was seeking people to socialize with, secular people, not ones to plan protests with. Also, the whiners don't want to meet in pubs because a few of them are recovering alcoholics and still others can't stand cigarette smoke, nor in restaurants because some of them don't have the money to spend on meals out and such. So we've been meeting in public library conference rooms and the stifling atmosphere of the Borders or Barnes & Noble bookstore coffeeshops. Remember, we're located in the Bible Belt, this Tulsa group was once threatened with banning from Borders because someone complained of our *gasp* godless heathen talk in public.

Additionally, problems come from working shift work as I do, it interfered with every meeting for five or six months in a row, then intermittently the rest of the year. The Tulsa meetup almost folded, but I got an email yesterday telling me they had 9 people show up, which is a record,... and I missed it, dammit. Perhaps I can go to my sisters place, an hour away, after work on Dec. 24th. She is fairly godless and my amiable BIL isn't religious at all, not even a little bit. She's been missing our parents sorely since they moved to Oregon in August, they lived in the upstairs of her house prior to moving. Maybe we can get together then, exchange holiday gifts and read some Russell and such.

Interesting! Just having (url="http://.../) (with ['s) makes something prepend "http://" again. Probably vBulletin trying to save me from an error, by introducing a new one. Fixed.

Just in case people missed it, bumping this again.

So, seebs, are you invited to this party? :D

Hmm. Well, let me think.
Memory fault (core dumped)

... I have no idea.

I guess the interesting question is whether I can, in finite time, answer that question. I will be running a program that analyzes the problem and says whether or not I can answer it in finite time. I'll let you know when I find out.

I couldn't make it last year and I can't make it this year, but I can attest that Seebs is a cool frood and any party hosted by him is likely to be fun. Also, his wife is cute, but don't stare, pervs.

Re-bump. Yes, tomorrow. 1PM and on 'til we get bored.

If there are enough people, I will make apple crisp. Mmm. Apple crisp. With burning rum on it.

How'd it go, seebs? I would've come but it was a bit too much of a drive for me...

Pretty well. Small; one of the people who was gonna make it got trapped at work until late. But a couple of good friends showed up, and much fun was had.

Cool. Sounds almost as fun as my Christmas Buffython. :yup:
