View Full Version : Employment *is* in the air!

Greetings one and all! I've been lurking as time permits which hasn't been much since I've been busy with the usual unsavory activities. OK not really, mostly helping out with the parental units' care and a couple of vacation getaways. Anyway, vm's thread and notation in bey's thread about employment being in the air causes me to announce:

After being mostly a layabout for the past almost-two-years (not totally - I did some work along the way for that documentary thing and some voiceover stuff) I have encountered meaningful employment once again starting next week.

I am going to work once again for a person that I used to work for, but on a freelance basis as opposed to the previous in-office arrangement. The upside to this new(est) arrangement is that I will be a) working from home b) requiring a much higher rate of pay and c) a new laptop :bliss: Also travel will be required with expenses paid. We worked together before and there were issues that needed to be worked out that have been definitively worked out, so I'm super excited. Even though it will probably be only 20 or so hours per week (not on a fixed schedule) I am looking forward to the added structure to my life, which has for some time now languished in the land of "what day is it?"

So here's to gainful employment!

Wow. Congratulations, Lauri!

On that note, I think I'd better stay away from this board for a while, just in case it's contagious.

From what I know of contagion (better check with Roland!) it's only got a short life, so I think yer safe since I found out about this like a week ago. So don't go anywheres quite yet!!!

You simply must go have some Ethiopian food to celebrate this delightful news!!!

Ethiopian food... *drool*

Unfortunately the closest spot is on Fairfax, about 35 miles north of here (in L.A. traffic). And plus I blew about a weeks' worth of calories in Vegas over the past three days. EFF!

Man. I need to get out of this factory. Anyonw wanna swap with me? It's freezing in the winter, blistering in the summer, and there's plenty of snakes.

*edit* And if you get the chance, can you grab a few red pens? I'm all out.

Yeah, I'd definitely recommend voluntary quarantine for awhile longer yet. :)

Congrats Lauri! Sounds like a really good setup.
