My lack of control is exactly why I no longer eat dates. Do you have any idea what a pound of dates will do to your intestines, not to mention your toilet? Let's just put it this way, it ain't pretty. And, to show how weak I am, I've done it more than once.

My favorite Mexican food I used to eat in Salt Lake City always gave me diarrhea. It was worth it.

I can relate, I ate a large bag of dried prunes once. lets just say it was few days before things whent back to normal. And large mounts of dried cranberies have the same effect.

ps ...all is good now

what the heck is wrong with you people? LOL.

Don't you know your body pays you back for how you treat it?

I'm currently in the process of overdosing on pumpkin seeds. I know all too well what's in store for me, but I can't help it. They're addicting.

Oh they're good. I ODed on sunflower seeds when I was kid. Even the shells are all salty and nummy.

Moxy

Sunflower seeds are another addiction of mine, but I usually spit the shells, so it's not so bad.

livius drusus
11-13-2006, 05:04 PM
I spit them out eventually, but I sort of gnaw on them first to get all the salty deliciousness.

I have eaten so many Altoids that I got chemical burns on my tongue.

More than once.

I can't be bothered to spit out the shells. They go down the hatch, too. Same with watermelon seeds.

Altoids cause chemical burns? Damns.

Altoids cause chemical burns? Damns.

Well, I'm not a certified chemical burn diagnoser, so let me narrow my claim to my anecdotal observation: If I eat a whole tin of Altoids in a short period, my tongue turns white and gets all cracked, and it really hurts to eat anything like salsa or curry or, you know, more Altoids.

Ew. It's gotta be the peppermint oil. There's nothing else in the ingredients that could crack a tongue.

I only do this with pistachios (ane they are expensive so it is rare) and :candyhrt:s (which are seasonal so it is rare) ...

oh and milk duds which I try not to buy too often.

Oh yes! Only in that case it's my fingers that pay the price, getting all shredded from opening the shells.

Crumb
11-13-2006, 07:17 PM
:yup: I hate pistachio finger, but it is worth it.

livius drusus
11-13-2006, 07:50 PM
That it is. Oddly, I don't have anywhere near so much fun with shelled pistachios.

There is no pistachio joy without suffering.

JoeP

Your fingers get shredded from shelling pistachios? Mine don't. Either your nails are too long or you don't have any. Surely you just put two thumbnails between the two halves, forefingers on the far side, and gently prise them apart?

livius drusus
11-13-2006, 08:19 PM
Well yes, but the edges are pointy, and sometimes gently doesn't do the trick.

Sometimes after I eat the pismashio I pop the shell in my mouth just for the salt.

Mmm...

Have you all ever tried roasted watermelon seeds? I only seem to find them in Chinese groceries. They're nice, a bit sweet.

JoeP
11-13-2006, 08:35 PM
The ones that don't open easily (with a bit of effort, sure, but without personal injury) I put back in the bowl.
