I'm supposed to be cleaning up the computer room in anticipation of my parents' visit next week. It really needs it as it looks like someone was trying to build a 747 with a tornado in there. Unfortunately the Caramel Moolatte I just had from Dairy Queen has rendered me immobile in front of both this computer and the Sunday football games. I thought the caffeine in it would've woken me up a bit (or at least the sugar might have given me a quick burst of energy). No luck. The large french fries didn't help either.

(Hmm... no smiley for lazy or full, huh?)

Quick, somebody motivate me! My wife will be home in 2 1/2 hours and I've got about 3 hours worth of work.

Today is not the time to be searching for your inner granola.

Get off your butt and just do it!

/me sucks at motivational speaking.

Maybe I just need more real coffee. It'll only take me a little while to grind the beans and brew the pot. A little while longer to drink a mug or two. I should be right as rain in an hour or so and I can get right on it!

Must ... get ... out ... of ... chair.

Oops, I just made the mistake of reading the WeffRiddles thread. D'oh!

I'm going, I'm going... May you mistake a Japonica quince for sweet apple! (not really)

It'd probably only take about 20-30 minutes to shovel all the stuff on your horizontal surfaces into boxes that you can stash in some backroom, closet or garage. You might even have time for a quick wipe down.

So, relax, you've got another couple of hours. Put your feet up, get a good start on War and Peace. You know you've always been meaning to read it.

Nah, it's the weekend, which is meant for procrastinating and then doing everything half assed. I know I should really exercise today but c'mon that's what the rest of the week is for!

Oy! You guys are giving me mixed messages. So here's what I'm gonna do, for every 10 minutes of work, I'll give myself a nice break. I forgot to mention that I actually started this yesterday and, over 3 hours, got quite a bit done -- though it was mostly sorting through random pieces of paper to get them into 'keep', 'burn', or 'throw away' categories. One very good thing was that I found a $12 off coupon from the record store that would have expired on Wednesday (it was good for one year). I dun used it today (that "The Hold Steady" band is sweet -- kind of like if Bruce Springsteen had a drugged out child with Thin Lizzy -- that almost works).

Back to the grind.

This week I had a victory over my usual procrastination. I finished the redo of my bridge.

With my gf moving in, I've removed all the books, most of the bookcases and the accumulated spinning and knitting stuff from the "office" on the main floor. Two of the huge bookcases, along with three new average and one large bookcase, have been moved to the new bridge upstairs. I have had this planned for years and gf moving in gave me impetus to actually do it. I now have my fully equipped bridge with computer, printer and scads of books in the new upstairs "library". The center of the room is occupied by my massage table. The other half of the upstairs is the master bedroom, ensuite with full bath. It too, has two walls in bookcases.

This still leaves the financial dealings that remain undealt with since Ivy's death, plus the expulsion of extraneous material possessions, still to be done. Gf has already spied several opportunities for space utilization that would be relatively easily obtained. She's also footing the bill for a Rubbermaid outdoor shed, in which to place a lot of the gardening tools and detritus from the basement, while her two boys rearrange the basement into a shop. The downstairs will be their shop, while the "office" will become the headquarters for "GFLName & Sons Engineering and Computer Services", and pay rent (GFLName & Sons already paid to make my home wifi).

On occasion, procrastination can be a good thing. Particularly when dealing with folks who have a propensity for expensive hare-brained schemes. My gf, by procrastinating about selling her country acreage, has stumbled upon a mechanism which will allow her to maintain an interest in her land, while making it available to a larger group of people who desire that country lifestyle, but don't have the means to pull it off. She's decided that she's going to assist a mixed group of folks do a "co-housing" project on her ex-urban property, taking on four smallish family groups (including a set of lesbian parents) who want to raise their own foods and livestock and do the country scene for their kids. She'll get three of the eight condos they'll make of her old home and new additions. I might get my chance to actually have an ass, because one woman has a horse (asses make superb horse stablemates).

Here's to procrastination!

Here, here.

I meant to join Procrastinators Anonymous, but I just haven't gotten around to it.

So I got enough done that there were no beatings. The biggest problem right now is the stacks and stacks of books. We just don't have enough bookshelves so I think we'll have to add to our boxes of books. Why in the heck are bookshelves so expensive?

Whip?

Plant Woman wields a whip?

Does she have thigh-high patent leather boots and a black latex bodice, too?
