Have a good traditional Thanksgiving: eat to excess and fight with your in-laws. Be safe.

I didn't hear from you AspenMama, was my number not working? Unfortunately, I wouldn't have had time to meet up anyway, we were visiting family every waking moment (since we're moving we may not have another chance to see them for some time). The drives out and back were gruelling, especially with the dogs.
Hope you had a nice weekend.

I'm glad to see the whole crew back home and safe, Shea. How did the sympathy issue play out?

Hey liv, I was worried for nothing. It was such a madhouse, nobody had time to get specific. The most I got was a sincere "I'm so sorry" from mother in law and my niece begging us to adopt a Russian baby..

:) I think that sounds pretty darned good, all in all. Why was your niece so into a Russian baby?

Her church had some kind of program on Russian adoptions and a family spoke and had their adopted Russian girl there, and Ashton said the pictures and the little girl were "so cute". She's 13 which explains a lot too ;)

Welcome home! I'm glad you didn't have to deal with hurtful sympathy during the family gathering and I'm sure they were happy to see you guys before your move to Alabama. That was one strategy I hadn't thought to suggest -- counter annoying lines of questions about the IVF with "Have you seen the house building plans we are considering? How 'bout these photos of our property?"
I was wondering how that would work out with the pups. Did you crate them in the SUV or were they loose or some combination? I'd love to have portable pets, but I think my parrot is the only one who would enjoy a long trip!

Well, rather than IVF sympathy, we got a bit of grief for the move. The first words out of his grandma's mouth were "Why are you moving so far away from this family?". LOL...explaining our thought processes and choice did take up a lot of time :)

We just threw some old sleeping bags in the back and they slept most of the time (we drove overnight both ways). They were a bit stressed on the way out...ya know how stressed dogs shed and stink? Yeah, that was fun. They were pretty good in the garage at the cousin's house, though unhappy and confused that they couldn't come in. They were much better on the way home. They are very happy to be back in their own house and snuggled extra close in bed last night.

Assuming I would get grief about something, I'd prefer the less personal topic.

Sorry to have missed you-- I did leave you a message on Saturday. I had a flat tire in the morning, so would not have had the opportunity to drive down till later that day. I understand family obligations and glad to hear it went well. My weekend was all right.
