An Invitation From a Stock House

I received an invitation from a stock house to submit photos. They sell them for 1-3 thousand dollars, with a 50-50 split. It's hard to get your foot in the door to stock houses.

The most money I ever received for a photo was 400 dollars and it was framed. At a charity art auction I donated a piece to, they auctioned a framed piece off for 500+ dollars. I was pleased to know someone would pay that much for my work, even if I didn't benefit monetarily. Those prices are rare for me though.

If this stock house sells anything of mine the return could be fabulous! Plus they would wind up in some prestigious places. It would be good for my resume and could open up more doors.

From what I've heard big stock agencies can be extremely anal, so that they approached you is great.

I have a local photographer friend who makes $$$ selling his photos through at least one stock photo house.

Are you interested in showing your work at a/some local artwalk(s) and venues? I know some people.

That is genuinely awesome. I have sold a picture (for a DOLLAR!) but I have never really gotten very far towards commercial sales.
