View Full Version : Stitch is troubled... He needs desserts!

So, what's your favourite dessert?
I was just a-wondering, because I have devoured 3 eskimo pies in under an hour. It's been years since I've had one, so I'm making up for lost time. They're so yummy and fun to eat too.
But my absolute favourite dessert of all time is probably tiramisu. Mmmmm. Creamy, cheesy, liquery, coffee-y, biscuity goodness. *drools*
Edited because though I like deserts too, Stitch doesn't need those.

Tiramisu is definitely my favorite too. I had a banana white chocolate tart once than brought me to my knees. Banana desserts in general are high on my yummy score: banana cream pie, bananas foster, banana ice cream.
Oh, and there's this Italian cake called a Mimosa (http://english.incucina.tv/default.asp?content=%2Frecipes%2Fricette%5Fin%5Finglese%2Fintroduzione%2Ftutte%2Fmimosa1%2Fricetta%2Easp%3F) which has a uniquely delicious texture and flavor.

I have never been much of a sweets person and my lack of interest seems to be getting stronger as I grow older, but I will admit to enjoying an excellent tiramisu (as long as it's not too boozy). I like cakes that aren't too sweet and prefer creamy, buttery over chocolaty and sweet. Good vanilla ice cream with a little bit of hot fudge, lots of peanuts or almonds and whipped cream is probably my best go-to.
I hope you'll forgive me for answering the typo-induced question because, well, this past week has been a typically winter gorgeous one here in the high desert and it's been on my mind:
So, what's your favourite desert?Well, mojave (http://www.desertusa.com/du_mojave.html) is my favorite out of hometown loyalty, the Dr.Zeusian joshua tree and its aeronautical usefulness. I named my cat in honor of it, after all. The amazing vistas of Utah and Nevada deserts I guess are in the Great Basin (http://www.desertusa.com/du_basin.html) desert, but I'm not sure about the names/designations of the southwestern U.S.A. deserts. I am guessing the Sonoran (http://www.desertusa.com/du_sonoran.html) is the gorgeous area around southern Arizona cities. However, if I were ever to travel the world, the many deserts would be high on my list of places to visit.

South Africa! Dunes of Sahara! Australian outback.

Pumpkin pie is my favorite dessert. One Thanksgiving my mother made one without sugar. I was the only one that ate it anyway. A bit of whipped cream on top and it was still creamy delicious.
I used to live in one of the North American deserts, The Great Basin Desert. I've been to all four of the deserts in the USA, the Mojave, the Sonoran, and the Chihuahuan desert. Can't say I have a perference, I prefer deserts to wet climes. There is a vast area of the American West that is desert, but doesn't officially fit into the four deserts I've mentioned; it is the area between them all, the Four Corners region. Now, that is my favorite area in the world. I'd go back and live there in a heartbeat, sugar or not.

Favorite dessert? Geez, that's like asking who my favorite kid is. I like almost every type of dessert. Which sucks, because I am not one of those people who can just eat every dessert and not pay for it on the scale. Anything chocolate is way up there, with the exception of plain chocolate ice cream--not a big fan. I love, love, love Snickers or Turtle cheesecake--the combination of cheesecake with its smooth, grahamcrackery goodness and caramel, chocolate, and nuts is just way too yummy. In a related vein, Kentucky bourbon chocolate pecan pie. (http://www.floras-hideout.com/recipes/recipes.php?page=recipes&data=h-l/Kentucky_Bourbon_Chocolate_Pecan_Pie) :homdrool: Both the cheesecake and the pecan pie probably have a days' worth of fat and calories in each tiny little slice, but they are SO. DAMN. GOOD.
My uncle brought this (http://www.pillsbury.com/recipesearch/showRecipe.asp?recipeID=43112) to Thanksgiving yesterday. I love granola too (mmmm, vanilla soft-serve frozen yogurt topped with granola), and it has chocolate mixed in, so I ate way too much of that as well. Mmmm, pie....

Tiramisu is definitely my favorite too.
For the record, liv's recipe for tiramisu is the best I've ever come across.

With a few idiosyncratic exceptions, I almost never met a dessert I didn't like. The exceptions are squishy things like angel food cake, cotton candy, marshmallows, and things like that, plus coconut. I hate coconut. Though I like curries made with coconut milk. Go figure.
I am a chocoholic. Give me fudge, brownies, hot fudge sundae, blackout chocolate cake, dark chocolate candy, chocolate ice cream, etc.
I even like fruitcake (thinking of this time of year), and I make a pretty mean one, if I do say so myself. I'm not making any this year, however. This year I'm digging out my mom's recipe for pralines and making those. Cream and brown sugar! Yum!
I also like variations on lemon pie: orange pie (sweeter) and grapefruit pie (tart).
Cheesecake is great stuff. I like pound cake (esp w/ fruit and whipped cream). A good plain cake is very nice, with rich texture and buttery flavor. I can make a faux Scottish trifle which is pretty to look at as well as fun to eat.
For a pot-luck, I sometimes like to make tart lime green jello in which the liquid has been mostly replaced with applesauce. It works well with raspberry jello also. It changes the texture and makes it more tangy than sweet.
Butterscotch or tapioca pudding are great comfort foods.
There's a restaurant in my area that makes the best. creme. brulee. ever. I can eat one all by myself.
I guess it's no wonder I'm overweight, huh?

Rhubarb pie, hands down. I love the tartness of rhubarb.
After that, cherry pie, pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin pie, blueberry pie, blueberry cobbler, blackberry cobbler, cheesecake with fruit inside or on top of it.
I'm not big on chocolate, but I won't turn down a chocolate malt.

Milkshake.
Apple pie, made with Gravenstein apples, served warm.
New York cheesecake, plain with fresh berries.
Pumpkin pie, with whipped cream.
Devil's Food cake, no frosting.
Fresh ripe raspberries.
Fresh ripe blackberries.
Blueberry fritters.
Lemon cheesecake.
Cherry pie.
Simple tastes really...and even then, I get to mostly fantasize about them. :innocent2:
I cheat occasionally, though. Particularly on and around National Overeaters Day (aka Thanksgiving), my favorite.

Pistachio cake? You wouldn't happen to have a recipe for that, by any chance? I adore pistachio nuts but have never encountered an entire cake dedicated to them.

My mom makes it and it's very green made with pistachio pudding ;) I'll see if she can get me the recipe. I don't think it's in my family recipe book dammit.

Shops sell this? O.o
Actually, just an issue- I found when searching for my Marbled Brownie mix online that a lot of "recipes" had this "package of brownie mix" in the actual ingredients, which was really weird to me. Can't you just make your own?

Sure you can, but I wouldn't even know how to go about making homemeade pistacho pudding. Prepackaged mix is so cheap, less than buying all of the ingredients. The instant pudding mix is made by Jello and costs maybe 50 cents. Generics are even cheaper. I can buy brownie mix on special 2 for 3.00.
