This is a test from the BBC Science & Nature website that lets you find out if you think more like a man or a woman. Interesting.

Take the test here (http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbody/sex/add_user.shtml?users=1)

My results were exactly average for a male. Interestingly I seem to prefer more masculine faces in women.

About 25 toward the male end of the scale, or about half that of the average man. It's the eyes-emotion recognition bit that did me in, I got 9 out of 10 on that one. Damn girlie-mind.

Wow. I scored 0 on the brain scale, precisely halfway.

Some of us did this back in March (http://www.freethought-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2037)

Dingfod has become more masculine since he last did the test. :P

(What does it say about the sex of my brain that I remember that we've done these tests months later? :chin: )

In March 2005 even. :kickcan:

Perhaps I shouldn't have posted the link - then we could have waited for others like Dingfod who'd taken the test previously and forgotten. Anyway, too late now :dunno:

It will still be an interesting test for people who weren't here, or missed it last time round.

25% towards the male end. Well, I'm an emotionally sensitive artiste, innit? Got to be a bit of a sissy.

I at the 50 toward the female end. :girl:

I'm some sort of hermaphrodite, apparently (i.e., scored 0).

Hermaphrodite?!? That's pretty hot....but I think that it means that you think like a man. :nudge:

Me? I scored a 50 on the male end, and I prefer feminine faces on my ladies.

:giggle:

But seriously...thanks to Stormlight for posting the link for this test. I LOVE crap like this!

Wow, I didn't expect this: 100% female.

Last time I took this I was 80% male....I'm still searching for a ruler so I can do the test again today...

Ahhh found one...today I scored 50% towards the female brain. More female today.

I did this a while back, but forgot my score.

Retaking..

50 towards female.

Same as last time, 50 male.

Looking over the results, the two things that really pushed me into the 'male' side were the spot the difference - which I suck at - and the rotating object - which I got 100%.

I don't think that the overall score really tells us much, so how 'bout posting your itemized scores?

Mine:

Part 1:
-Angles: 16 out of 20
-Spot the Difference: 21%
Part 2:
-Hands: right thumb on top.
Part 3:
-Empathising: 3 out of 20
-Systemising: 15 out of 20
-Eyes: 8 out of 10
Part 4:
-Fingers: average ratio: 0.935
Part 5:
-Faces: I prefer feminine faces.
Part 6:
-3D shapes: 9 out of 12
-Words: average 6.5 words.
-Ultimatum: 25 pounds (I don't know how to make a pound symbol).

Okay... I took it again and moved toward the masculine end, from 25 on the feminine to deadbang in the middle.

Man, did I suck on the empathy portion...2 out of 10.

So are you people telling me that you had rulers lying around for that finger measurement part? I call shenanigans! :glare:

I have a small tape measure that has millimeters on it.

So are you people telling me that you had rulers lying around for that finger measurement part? I call shenanigans! No. I took a piece of paper and marked the lengths.
Then eyeballed the differences in mm. I made a guess on the total length, but tried to make the proper amount of difference.

So I was probably all wrong. No friggin' way I was gonna go hunt down a mm measuring device -- I don't even know if I have one here at home.

I always have a ruler on the computer desk, and it is of course in millimeters and CM...I don't think I have anything in the house in inches.

I have a ruler in my laptop/briefcase. Two, rulers actually--a small plastic one 5 inches long and a 12''/30 decimeter one made out of wood.

Heh, heh heheh. I said "wood."
:butthead:

This is taking forever to print out...

I scored overall about 25 on the male side of the scale, so I am masculine but apparently "in touch" with my feminine side.

Angles: 18/20 ("male brain")
Spot the difference: 43% ("balanced female-male brain")
Hands: Left thumb on top...not sure about this, as I am somewhat ambidextrous.
Empathy: 8/20 (male average score 7.9...apparently I am "not a good candidate for comforting people in a crisis")
Systemising: 16/20 ("score of 15 or better suggests you're good at analysing or building systems," a typical male skill according to this criteria)
Eyes: 4/10 ("balanced female/male brain")
Fingers: Right hand 0.94 Left hand 0.93 (apparently I got a lot of testosterone in the womb, whatever that might mean now)
Faces: I prefer feminine faces.
3D shapes: 9/12 (slightly higher than the "average score for men 8.2/12; 7-9 apparently is 50/50 male/female)
Words:15 words total (10 for grey, 5 for happy; 6-10 words is "a female type brain," so 15 makes me a total lesbian)
Ultimatum: £25. While apparently sex differences are small, "demanding less than 60% is typically female." I just figured 50/50 would be fair, and I would never go less than 50% for myself.

I skipped the ruler part.

My results: 50 on the female side.

I suppose this is acceptable.

Last time I was 25 points on the male side, this time I was dead in the middle, zero.

The difference was that I did much, much better on the "what objects have moved" test. I scored exactly the same on the angles (18 of 20) and the £d objects (10 of 12).

Chris Porter

Breakdown score:

Angles: Your score: 18 out of 20 = male
Spot the difference: Your score: 93% = female
Hands: Right thumb on top = left brain dominant
Empathizing: 2 out of 20 = male
Systematizing: 18 out of 20 = male
Eyes: 9 out of 10 = female
Fingers: 1.01 = female
Faces: prefer masculine
3-D Shapes: 11 out of 12 = male
Words: 8, 9 = female
Ultimatum: 50% = female

I'm thinking there are too many 0s (halfway brains) in this small group posting here for me to place any confidence this set of tests can pinpoint anything of value, let alone a claim to determine the gender of a brain.
