View Full Version : Need some help... can't speak (literally)
Lauri D
12-02-2004, 01:46 AM
Over the past few hours I have wanted to talk to someone on the phone, but I literally can't speak - have completely lost my voice due to a nasty cold and stress.
I need some help with combating (combatting?) anxiety that is making my chest hurt. I have been trying to eat and drink plenty of fluids, but have had difficulty sleeping more than a few hours at a time and am now having these recurring panic attacks that feel as though my heart is going to explode.
I can only type, and read - can anyone help? Make me laugh, distract me. Send me a "you will sleep NOW" voodoo curse over the internet to get me through tonight.

Okay. Are you breathing? Deeply and evenly, I mean. Deliberately. Filling your lungs slowly from the bottom up.
I saw something yesterday that totally made me think of you. The Gingerbread House (http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P78818). It was the sugar cookie lip balm that did it for me, cause of the berry lip gloss you love that makes someone say "hey you taste like berries" instead of "ew... lipstick". The whole kit is adorable though. That would totally be my Secret Santa present to you. :xmas:
Oh that reminds me! I was going to suggest we do a secret santa thing here at FF! I made Brandi work out the details and everything! :giggle:
Breathing check. Still deep and even.

I'm very sorry you are so stressed. I wish I was all witty or eloquent and could do or say something to help you feel better. Some hugs are the best I can do.
For you Lauri:  :cuddle:
Hope that helps!

Here's a joke for you:
Why did Frosty the Snowman pull down his pants?
Give up?
He heard the snowblower coming?

Thanks you guys, :grouphug: I mean, geez, cool new avatars, yummy lip balm, hugs, jokes... what more could a girl ask for?
I swear to Dog I have the greatest boss that ever lived. He just called... I've been off work all week and all he had to say was "come in a half day tomorrow if you can" (big thing Friday that needs to be prepped for) "but if you can't, please don't worry and take care of yourself first".

You could paint your stress, that gets it out of your body and onto canvas. Plus I just dig your paintings and want to know what your stress looks like :)

Bah, I got nothin. But I'm betting at least a few guys read LadyShea's post as
You could paint...your body..onto canvas...I just dig you...and want to know what you...look like
and are thinkin', "Hell yeah!" :D

I was already thinking of that Farrah Fawcett Playboy shoot where Farrah painted a large canvas literally with her body. Lauri, nekkid, paint, canvas? The possibilities are endless.

Oddly enough that didn't even occur to me. That's really sad, because it really should have. Now I'm having a personal crisis...

The cure. Sex. Sex cures everything. On the flip side, you could catch something, and then would need a cure for, said cure. Then, you would be stressed, again. In which case you have more sex. Its a Freudian thing. Its like, 'take one or two orgs and call me in the morning'. Except you can't call, with that whole voice thing going on ...so just take one or two more orgs. That should fix you.

Tried going to bed already, didn't work out too well (phone rings, cold sweat follows, etc.)
Thanks for the hug vm, you know I appreciate it.
Is there a smilie for GODDAMNMOTHERFUCKINGCHRISTONASTICK, I JUST WANT TO SLEEP FOR ONE NIGHT?

Lauri, call your doctor and get either Trazadone or Hydroxyzine. The Hydroxyzine is an antihistamine, but I find it very Valium-like. The Trazadone somehow stops your brain from ruminating so you can sleep.

Alright, then don't go go to bed. Try painting your anxiety, like Brandi suggested. Hell, consider making that call. Whisper if your voice is gone, that and make it short. I dunno, maybe that's a bad idea after all, but I wonder if it'd really be worse than sitting there with that much angst.

Lauri, I am in the chat room and Frankie just called me with some silly jokes.

Standing there alone,
the ship is waiting.
All systems are go.
"Are you sure?"
Control is not convinced,
but the computer
has the evidence.
No need to abort.
The countdown starts.
Watching in a trance,
the crew is certain.
Nothing left to chance,
all is working.
Trying to relax
up in the capsule
"Send me up a drink."
jokes Major Tom.
The count goes on...
4, 3, 2, 1
Earth below us
drifting, falling.
Floating weightless
calling, calling home...
Second stage is cut.
We're now in orbit.
Stabilizers up,
runnning perfect.
Starting to collect
requested data.
"What will it affect
when all is done?"
thinks Major Tom.
Back at ground control,
there is a problem.
"Go to rockets full."
Not responding.
"Hello Major Tom.
Are you receiving?
Turn the thrusters on.
We're standing by."
There's no reply.
4, 3, 2, 1
Earth below us
drifting, falling.
Floating weightless
calling, calling home...
Across the stratosphere,
a final message:
"Give my wife my love."
Then nothing more.
Far beneath the ship,
the world is mourning.
They don't realize
he's alive.
No one understands,
but Major Tom sees.
"Now the light commands
this is my home,
I'm coming home."
Earth below us
drifting, falling.
Floating weightless
coming home...
Earth below us
drifting, falling.
Floating weightless
coming, coming
home...
home.....
- This has just been a remnant of my rambling, trying-to-sleep thoughts and nothing more; not a cause for concern. I love this song and particularly its crescendo in the second (or is it the third?) chorus.
It's my hope that I will fall asleep soon and thereby give this pathetic thread its well-deserved death.

Hug your dog. He loves you. He is concerned about you. When you're upset, he's upset. He would do anything for you if only he knew how. Will licking your face help?

Well I'll be a monkey's uncle (aunt?) I just woke up and slept straight through from whenever I fell asleep (I think 10:30 or so). You all here and in chat had some kinda magical effect on me, as I haven't gotten a solid night's sleep for a week now. Thank you. I think I'll even go BACK to sleep now.

I have a pic somewhere, not on the computer, of a beautiful piece of art from the garden, though it takes two carrots to tango. Man, it was perfect, the female carrot on top, of course. :P We put hair on them and everything. :D

Its a great carrot! You wish you had a carrot like that, Miss Pukey-Pants!
Jealousy, that's what it is. I bet the best carrot you ever had looked like the silhouette of an anemic elephant humping a furball and you just can't stand the thought that someone else has a carrot with real oo-la-la.
livius drusus
12-02-2004, 07:57 PM

The whole carrot is barely a nub, man. That's probably why Farren didn't put a coin or something next to it: to keep us from realizing the full extent of its shortcomings.
Don't believe the carrot hype!

Yeah, I found them. :)
Lauri's Blue period. Dig it.
I love the textures and sweeping lines against the cool blues - kind of like a balance between inner calm and frustrated energy. Lots of curves, too, suggesting the sensual.
I like 'em. :)
