It wasn't till just recently that I realized you guys have the arcade here and I'm hooked. I just took the Penguin Bashing title and I am assuming there isn't a possible higher score so NOBODY play that one any more so I don't have to go back and drive myself crazy again... :cuckoo:

I've been playing it and clearing it no problem but I am at a loss for how the thing scores. The guys on top have varying amounts of seconds played. WTF?

I suspect location counts. According to the titleholder Ex-zombie, the tiles removed from the center of the board are worth more than the tiles from the edges. Other than that, I'm just as flummoxed as you.

I watched just about every take and it always seems like it is twenty points.

I believe it really is just a matter of how quickly you clear the board in actual seconds. The second counts on the high scores probably calculate all of the time you've played during a particular session of that game. So if you hit the Reset button a few times without closing the window, that time is included in the seconds count.

It's useful in that it can give you an idea of how long somebody played a game before getting the high score. But you can fool it by using the Back button instead of resetting/restarting within the game.

I scored 2096, finishing Mahjong in 463 seconds, first game, no retries.

Others scored higher, yet finished the game in more seconds.

463 seconds would be almost 8 minutes to clear the board. I'll bet a dollar to a donut you didn't take that long. The confusion is that, while the game itself scores the bonus based on timing, whatever the Arcade uses to calculate total minutes played is not connected to the clock in-game. Keep an eye next time when you're close to clearing, and see how long it actually took you.

ETA: Confirmed, just finished a game. It took me 3:39, or 219 seconds. Next to my score in the standings, it says 336, or 5:36. The second count next to the high score appears to be meaningless.

Pfft, I just completed it in 3 minutes and 35 seconds for a score of 2225 and 254th place. It's looking like the record is near the 2 minute mark.
