A very interesting series of articles from Cultwatch.

Who are the Super Apostles and which are their churches in your area? What can be done about them? How do we combat these life-sucking, soul-destroying, dangerous cults?

Somethings gotta be done about them.

I read this page. Very disturbing but I must say that I am very familiar with some of the terminology mentioned in this cultwatch page. I have heard and witnessed many of theses tactics in some of the non denominational fundamentalist Churches I have visited or attended. I also have hear this on Christian television. Pastors have 'revelations' and a new fad goes through fundamentalist churches. I think it is less likely to spread through the bigger branches because many of the main denominations see this stuff as hooey.

I'm not convinced by that, Beth. Many of these "Super Apostle" churches and their kin (tele-evangelists) are on the rise. So much on the rise in fact, that they affected the outcome of the recent US elections.

They are great at not just making shitloads of money for their leaders, but in motivating mobs.

Yes, but what does that have to do with larger brances such as the Catholic church or the Baptist church or the Church of Christ?. Many of the leaders types of churches see this type of teaching as apostate.

Just on the topic of cults, I recently came across The Advanced Bonewits’ Cult Danger Evaluation Frame (http://www.pfsa.org.za/ABCDEF.HTML). Fair stuff. I also liked how to identify teachers (http://www.pfsa.org.za/teachers.htm) and how to witness to pagans (http://www.pfsa.org.za/sharethegospel.html). I'm not about to become a pagan but this is level-headed stuff.
