Our dog, Tim, used to hate going to be groomed. He was a mongrel with a lot of poodle in him though, so he had to have his fur trimmed for the summer or he would have baked.

:aww:
But they look gorgeous in both shots!

Definitely ready for Sunday-Goin'-to-Meetin' in the second shot though!

They look beautiful groomed, of course, but I have to say, I am totally crazy about Tigger's pre-groom mutton chop whiskers! He looks like downright Dickensian! :squee:

Definitely ready for Sunday-Goin'-to-Meetin' in the second shot though! Thanks, pesci. :thankee: I like the way they look both ways too. There's a certain cuteness missing when they take all the fur away. :sadcheer: But, their fur is a lot easier to maintain at this length. I had to brush out the cocker spaniels almost daily to detangle them before matts could form. That, and I'm sure they'll be cooler with the warmer weather coming. :sunbathe:

Thanks, liv. :thankee: They are cute, and the weirdest things. Raistlin doesn't get that when his fur grows out. I wonder how long they would grow if you let them? It would be funny if I had them groom him but leave that just to see. :giggle:

I think he's just adorable like that too. I miss his fur. Oh well, it'll grow back again before I know it. :yup:

In the 'before' shot, there appear to be giant paw prints of a bear or similar in the ground.

:chuckle:

That's Raistlin's way of entertaining himself in the spring and fall. He digs holes and then chews at the tree roots he finds which are everywhere in my back yard. Tigger doesn't dig; instead, he stands behind Raistlin as he digs and catches the flying dirt in his mouth. :nutty:

Shelby does neither. He just lays there and watches. :sleepingdog:

What pretty doggies! My dog is a shorthair, he never needs grooming. I should take him in to get his nails trimmed, though.

Thanks for the doggie pics.

Thanks, chick, and you're welcome. :=)

Yeah, their nails can get wicked and if not trimmed, they can split which is very painful. I don't do myself because I'm afraid I'll cut too low and hurt them. :shudder:

Very nice! I am having to shave my dog because the mats that are still there. We decided to start with a clean slate, er, coat.

They look great before as well as after!

Thanks, vm and PW. :nova:

Yeah, I'm finding that mats are a bitch to get out and even stop from forming in the first place when the hair is really long. With Shelby, it hardly ever happens. Raistlin, now and then, but Tigger.. sheesh! Ah well, they're all cleaned up now. :puppy2: :puppy2: :puppy2:

I don't do myself because I'm afraid I'll cut too low and hurt them. :shudder:Yeah, last time I tried to trim Sadie's nails, I was afraid she'd hurt me. She gave me a quick jab punch with her right front, straight to my face!

Now that I have a dog with a thick coat, I am concerned about the summer here in the desert. I was reassured somewhat that the undercoat acts as insulation for heat, just as it does for cold. I hope that's true!

Either that, or I hope Titus matures a bit in the next month or so such that I can leave the dogs with bedroom/outside access instead of just patio room/outside by the time it's blasting summer hot.
