WASHINGTON — President Bush yesterday awarded America's highest civilian honor to three key players from his Iraq team: ex-CIA chief George Tenet, former Iraq chief L. Paul Bremer and Gen. Tommy Franks.
The White House brushed off questions about why Tenet was getting a Medal of Freedom after concluding Iraq had weapons of mass destruction — when none were found — and whether Bremer misjudged postwar Iraq planning.
