View Full Version : How Do You Sleep?

Maybe this is another one of those things that reveals my insanity, but I've always wondered how I sleep at night. I mean, just how much do I toss and turn? Etc. So last night when I discovered that my digital camera has a time-lapse setting, I set up the tripod and programmed the camera to shoot a picture of me every 10 minutes while I slept. I knew the sound and flash would be disturbing (to my sleep and thus to the experiment) but the results were amusing despite the restless night.
Too bad I don't have a night-vision camera.

I've wondered the same thing, but never tried to find out.

Ha! I'm embarrassed by photos of myself awake and fully clothed. If you think I'm going to post pictures of myself sleeping in shorts, you're hitting the crack pipe too hard.
But the result? It's kind of funny. I spent the first hour or so on my back - in exactly the position I was in when I fell asleep. Then I'm sleeping on my right side, then left, then right, then left... etc. And in the last 10 or so I'm holding a pillow over my face - trying to block the flashing. At one point the bed is empty because I had to go to the bathroom.
Unfortunately I don't know how much of the flip-flopping side to side was normal or an unconscious attempt to turn away from the flashing camera.

Interesting experiment.
I know that I always fall asleep on my back, and usually wake up on my side. I prefer to sleep on my side, but a certain black cat requires me to fall asleep on my back so she can curl up on my chest. :catjack:

Cats are evil, I tell you.
I always seem to fall asleep on my left side.
I don't know if that's how I wake up though, as my alarm is off to my left side and my first conscious thought is of trying to kill it, not rolling over.

Beware of cats sleeping on your face. Hungry Joe was eventually suffocated to death by Huple's cat sleeping on his face, when he failed to wake up in time.
