Yes, M. Not Judi Dench, but the Roman numeral for 1000. Roman, because it allows me to create a one-letter thread title (and in honour of our Roman tribune admin). 1000, because this is my one-thousandth post.

I prefer to think of it as having a very exclusive "no life club", Ymir's blood.

Joe, I am so proud and happy. The event, the title, the smilies in the OP: it all just comes together so perfectly. Congratulations. Now please redouble your efforts and catch up to me before I hit 4000.

I thought it was because this forum is so small that we have a 'no life club'. Heck, I only just passed halfway to D, so M is going to be a while for me (never mind liv's impending MMMM)!

This will be Shake's CCLXX* post!

Damn you bunch of centurians. You are taking me back to my crummy childhood in a one room school. For some strange reason we had ton learn the roman numerals before we were allowed to move on to those heathen numbers. It was all so long ago that I'm more than a little rusty so perhaps Liv could start a refresher course, just for ancient peeps.

livius drusus

It's a paraphrase of a line from Tombstone (Doc Holliday says "I'm your huckleberry" meaning "I'm the guy for the job"), but the huckleberry has a long, illustrious history (http://www.worldwidewords.org/qa/qa-huc1.htm) of being used in idiomatic expressions.

Oh, and Socratoad, here's (http://www.novaroma.org/via_romana/numbers.html) your huckleberry. :)Greetings :toad:. You can also find the lowdown at wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_numeral) and mathworld (http://mathworld.wolfram.com/RomanNumerals.html).

Well, as devastated as I am at the thought that someone might not dig the romanness, Joe, would it be possible to make it a user cp option? Roman numerals with Arabic hovernumberals would be the board default, naturally, but could you rig something up to let folks opt out?

Oops, a cross-post. Wade, don't be cross. This is for the greater happiness of the greater number.

See what you've done? You've turned liv into a sad banana. :P

Do you object to the long strings of numerals, or do you rely on the post count often enough that it's a hassle to mouse-over?

One thing can be changed very easily, and that's to display both forms, like
Posts: MCMLX (1,960)
