A layer of sliced strawberries over a layer of sliced nectarine, topped with yogurt and brown sugar.
Two croissants, a lump of soft butter, and an improbably large dollop of citrus marmalade.
And a large cup of strong black coffee...
...all found their way up to me in bed this morning, along with homemade Father's Day cards and a gift basket of herbs that the kids dried from their own potted plants -- Italian parsley, thyme, chamomile, chives, mint, basil, lemon balm... and such.
And all this merely for being a father! A task that could have been, and by some accounts was, accomplished in my sleep. Life is good.

Damn. Your kids have a pretty extensive herb garden going on there. I'm a little jealous, frankly. :snooty:
Off to call my daddy. :runbunny:

Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's! :mvp:
We're going over to my in-law's house tonight to which I'll be bringing my homemade tomato sauce that I've been cooking since last night and I'll be cooking them a yummy Italian dinner which they both enjoy but especially my father-in-law. :garcon:

My dad told me I was absolutely right about something! :faint: I might have to commission some kind of carving to commemorate this day.

"I've never yet been absolutely right about anything."
"You're absolutely right about that!"

Happy Father's Day to all the fathers here!
I called my daddy to hear how his latest adventure went, now that he is home. This evening, I will call my grandfather also--although apparently some people think it is odd to include grandparents in father's/mother's day. I don't care, though.

I called my dad and had a pleasant chat. My grandfather is up next :brooding: It just wouldn't be father's day without a big load of rambling criticism and negativity, eh?

Happy Father's Day, dads!
We went out to eat with my dad, and what was his gift? He got to tell all his Navy stories without mom rolling her eyes :D

I cleaned up pretty well -- a picture frame for my office with the usual hyberbole about my mad dad skillz, some nice casual clothes that actually fit, a DVD rack, comfy shoes, and, best of all, a homemade card from the Li'l Puppet with the most hilarious, adorable portrait of me drawn & colored entirely by her own hand. I'm gonna scan it & share. The way she draws eyes has to be seen to be believed.

Got a nice haul this year. From the wife, I got the mother of all universal remote controls, the Logitech Harmony 880. From the kid, I got Lego Star Wars II for the PC.
I also managed to get into a shouting match with the wife and had to clean up the kid's puke off of the stroller.
Ah, fatherhood.

I've uploaded the inside of the card to the Gallery so that y'all can marvel at the Li'l Puppet's mad artistic skillz.

Looks just like me, or sorta. Looks like I lost the feet in the scan, but the most important stuff is there.

I definitely think that if you're going to spell "happy", the p's should always face in opposite directions. It makes the word seem ... happier (in my opinion).

I love the shirt she drew for you, especially that one violet shoulder pad on the right. It's like a military uniform or something. Like Star Trek.
