well i almost took a literal approach to this thread according to VM....on sat. the 18th i had a heart attack. myocardial infarction. had to call my own rescue guys to get me :fireman: , i was in horrible agony and could not cooperate with them, they had to cut my clothes off, (they always wanted to do that) and get me to ER. where i underwent emergency cardiac catherization and had to have three stents placed into three coronary arteries. it was one FRIGHTENING and PAINFUL bitch. so i cannot work for 6 weeks now, assuming nothing else happens. and it is considered work-related under federal law, police and fire with clean health who have heart problems are eligible for workers' comp thankfully, i didn't want to do a whole thread about it, just wanted to say i am glad to still be here and wish everyone a great holiday, it has a little more meaning to me this year. carry on... :ladycop: ..................
Holy fuck. Glad you're relatively okay, lady cop. Have a good one.

Hey no fair... in that other thread you said you were going to do a thread so I didn't comment there. So I guess I'll comment here.
Glad you're doing still with us, lady cop. I can only imagine how frightening and painful that must be. Well okay the frightening I can relate to 'cause I have frequent panic attacks - but the pain and all must really suck. :(
Try to avoid any contentious debates...

Thanks VM...i didn't think it needed its own thread, so i butted into 'mine'...and contentious debates? here? i figured i'd throw myself on my sword so there could be love and peace and harmony and good will to men and what else? oh, give peace a chance . :rudolph2: :rudolph2: :rudolph2: :rudolph2: :santahat: :xmas: :xmastree: :xmasday: i really like that little rudolf guy!

That is such typical understatement Lady Cop you could be a honorary brit. I would damn well think you will be off work for six weeks and of course you will be resting all you can!!!!.
Thank goodness you came out the other side, the world is full of bad people, we cannot afford to lose too many good ones

Wow...sorry to hear about that Lady Cop. It's gonna be a quiet recuperation. What factors do you think brought this MI on? And I have a question you don't have to answer...how old are you?

Hope you're feeling better, Lady Cop. I read your job description in another thread, sounds like hell. No wonder they classify your illness as work related, there could be no doubt there.
Best wishes, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Split from the death penalty thread cause that crazy lady cop thought it didn't deserve it's own thread.

Ouch!
Well, I'm glad you're up and around enough to harangue us. That's heartening.
So....We'll be seeing more of you in the near future, eh? Then, after the six weeks, they'll probably put you on some kind of light duty...like shuffling papers or throwing the switch at the executions, huh?
Get well....you gotta get to that beau in Britain.

yes, i have to take the entire six weeks, the sheriff dept. cannot risk liability until i am deemed fit by doctor. :nurse2: (i can get more if i have another coronary.) this really was a shock, i am not "old" and there was never any warning. i only hope this is not the end of a career. i'd like to make lateral move to detective division, more of a desk situation, and intend to talk to our new sheriff about that. :detect: ...Shaguar...i wouldn't have got through without you. :beating:...oh, now i know where expression "serious as a heart attack" comes from.

hey Godfry! now is the time to take advantage of my weakened and medicated state...i don't know if i am up to harangue mode....and we retired "old Sparky" so i can't throw the switch alas. i can however, stay here for six weeks and be very very annoying! :D

Hey, my boss made a joke about his "gun" having a "hair-trigger" the other day and I almost filed for mental anguish work comp. It's not easy scrubbing your cerebellum with a wire brush, you know. :D
I wasn't sure what to title it, but I didn't want to be all dire and somber about it. Finally I decided this was most likely what you would have called it had you not been doped up to the gills on the good shit.
Now, shall we take bets on what her post count will be at the end of the six weeks? :deal:

Yikes! Take care while recuperating. How's the knee that got smashed up a while back? I hope you don't have to deal with both at the same time!

:yup: yep...this made me forget all about my knee. so now i am limping around while holding my chest and whining about how i can't drive :policecar and saying "THIS IS THE BIG ONE" when i don't get my way. :vapours:

... and saying "THIS IS THE BIG ONE" when i don't get my way. :vapours:It is okay to try to evoke sympathy by saying that as long as you don't stagger back, look up at the ceiling and add, "I'm coming, Lizabeth, I'm coming."

holy crap, lady cop!! If I might ask, did you guess you were having a heart attack (since it was so unexpected) or did you think it was something else? What were your symptoms?
I'm so glad you're feeling better.
Than you were, anyway.
Anything you need?

Thankyou...this may be useful to any who don't know symptoms, although they can vary and you may not have them all...(also, for women the first one is usually fatal, not sure why).i KNEW what it was. (i used to be a nurse.) crushing unbearable pain to center of chest, pain radiates up neck, shoulder, down left arm, and hand, it was as bad as the chest pain. profuse cold sweat. feeling of impending death. i am not 'old' and i had no prior history. this was a shock from hell, and levity aside i am not out of the woods and have a bit of fear going on. the pain was so excrutiating that i could not assist the rescue guys or the ER staff, not until i had morphine, 45 minutes after onset of pain. after i called 911 at home i got my ID so they would know to call my sheriff if i did not make it, i called my son and left as calm a message as i could, and i called and left message for the Brit :unitedkingdom: :hearts: . then just waited for ambulance with my scanner on. my LT had his scanner on at home and beat me to ER. when pain was dissipated by the arms of morpheous i was informed we were going to OR and i could wake up chest splayed open or ...not at all. after initial surgery, stent, i was the patient from hell, the poor nurses were beside themselves trying to make me lay still, i just couldn't. i tried to sneak in bathroom, unhooking my IV and spurting blood everywhere, and have a cigarette :nosmoking which really torqued them and they said they'd call security on me...i just said, excuse me, i can arrest your 'security'! :miranda: which had a lot of credibility dressed in hospital attire. (the security guys know me, i often get sent to hospital to have arrestees checked out before jail will take them.) the nurses were very happy when i went home, they are used to a more compliant ICU :fever: patient. i'll go back and thank them when i am back on the job. in truth, i was 'bad', but they were fantastic nurses. :nurse:

Sheesh!
Next time, stick to a little sprained ankle or something. This just doesn't seem worth it.
(Glad you're okay, and hopefully you will be out of the woods soon.)
Wow. Ow. Happy Christmas ... what a way to get a holiday ...
I presume you're at home now. Are you fully mobile?

hi , and hello Brimshack, i hope you have a great Christmas....to answer your question, i am not allowed to drive because of 'wound' (surgical) in femoral artery right groin area , which could cause me to bleed out rather quickly if i had to slam on a brake. other than that i am "normal" except very weak physically, this really kicks your ass, a huge insult to the body-entire ...i hope to get past that weakness, and also frankly, the fear that another one is going to hit at anytime is hard to get over.

I had one of those about five years ago when I had a catheter ablation to cure a mild heart 'condition'. I'm sorry you have to worry about an aftershock, lady cop. :(
