Last night, I finally finished uploading and categorizing a series of smilies by deviantARTists darkmoon3636 (http://darkmoon3636.deviantart.com/) and MisterIngo (http://misteringo.deviantart.com/). In order to properly credit them and to showcase just how talented these folks are, I've added their dA usernames as keywords. I've also commissioned several custom smilies from Zikes (http://zikes.deviantart.com/), whose work I've mentioned glowingly already in several threads, so there will be more coming down the pike as inspiration has her way with him.

Meanwhile, here are in all their glory,

Very nice, liv. :yup: I especially like this one --> :flushed: It's the best "swirly" smilie I've seen.

Awww, no "coming out of the closet" smiley? :glare:

And for the love of the gods, please don't ask me why that was the first thing I thought of.

Isn't it, though? She made an earlier version where he swirls back up, but this one with the splash finale is just perfection.

Okay, I won't. Can I ask you why you hadn't searched for the one we've had for ages? :closet:

...

But that smiley isn't entirely comfortable with being out of the closet, since it goes right back in. Yeah, that's it. :D

Oh, :bliss:.

:flashpic: tells a whole story. darkmoon's are a huge collection and nicely consistent in style. So many it's hard to pick a favourite. But I'll go for :revenge:!

Can you believe MisterIngo learned the trade after a quick chat with Zikes? Flash Photography is like the 6th smiley he ever posted. :stunned:

And you've surely had some chats with Zikes ... the conclusion is inescapable ... I await your artistic creations eagerly!

Okay... I gotta ask.... What is that little white and red packet that the menaced little smilie gets to turn the tables? Steroids? It looks like a muffin.

Not just any magic mushroom, as per liv.

It's a "power-up" mushroom from Super Mario. An excellent smiley.

I see eldar's made the point first, but guys, really. Super Mario - it's an icon of computer games. Heard of space invaders? Would you recognise a Pacman? :pacman: :mspacman: :pacman: :mspacman: :pacman: :mspacman: :pacman: :mspacman: :pacman: :mspacman: :pacman: :mspacman: :pacman: :mspacman: :pacman: :mspacman: :pacman: :mspacman: :pacman: :mspacman: :pacman: :mspacman: :pacman: :mspacman: :pacman: :mspacman: :pacman: :mspacman: :pacman: :mspacman: :pacman: :mspacman: :pacman: :mspacman: :pacman: :mspacman: :pacman: :mspacman: :pacman: :mspacman: :pacman: :mspacman: :pacman: :mspacman: :pacman: :mspacman: :pacman: :mspacman: :pacman: :mspacman: :pacman: :mspacman: :pacman: :mspacman: :pacman: :mspacman: :pacman: :mspacman: :pacman: :mspacman: :pacman: :mspacman: :pacman: :mspacman:

Livius, dearest, we could do with a true Super Mario spotted mushroom smilie :mushroom: . Not to mention Messrs Mario and Luigi themselves, and Princess Toadstool.

Not directly on topic, but this smilie deserves an airing: :shrooms:

I didn't say it enough before, but darkmoon's new smilies: :bliss: :bliss:

I couldn't find a good Princess on short notice, but just to make it up to you and eldar for my utter ignorance of (almost) all things gaming, here are :mario:, :luigi:, and :toadguy:.

In other more on-topic news (:glare:), look what Zikes just made: :bubbles:. Isn't she adorable?

Er...that last guy. He's not a power-up mushroom. He's Toad (http://www.nintendoland.com/home2.htm?mario/friends/toad.htm) ! One of Mario's allies. Not a big deal, just sayin'

Absolutely. As are just about all of the smileys created by darkmoon3636.

I tell ya, those things are so cute, I wished I lived in a world of smileys. I wish I was a smiley. Although, probably not this poor bastard:

:balls:

(what's weird is that I find even this to be adorable, I mean, the poor guy is obviously suffering, but he's just being so darn cute about it)

Hmmm... Well, we already had this: :balls3:

Now, I like the victim's response here, 'cause it's so close to the reality. But I have real problems with the perpetrator in this. It looks sociopathic.

I feel your pain (metaphorically, of course, not actually ever having been kicked in the testes). They're like some kind of black hole of cuteness. Look what they've done to me, for chrissake. I go looking for a nice basic set of 15 and next thing I know, we have 1564 uploaded, categorized and searchable by keyword.

Yeah, it does kind of suffer from an overdose of schadenfreude. darkmoon's is more subtle and gracious in every way.

How utterly appropriate. These little bastards are truly hypnotic. I take it back, I'm glad they are not real. Imagine the havoc they would wreak if let loose in our world.

I mean, holy crap, look at how damned cute this one is!

I know! I love poser so much. Particularly the hat phase and that final beating.

For me it's that little bit where the blue guy shakes with anger when he sees the poser with the same hat.

I mean, you can just tell his fists are balled-up in anger...even though normally he only has balls for hands.

I'm amazed at just how evocative these little graphics can be.

That never fails to impress me too, eldar. How they manage to pack such a wide range of human emotion into 30 square pixels I'll never understand. God I love emoticonists.
