I'm off to Vegas in December to see Ricky Hatton take on Floyd Mayweather.

Should be a group of about 10 of us going. Well looking forward to it.

Tell Ricky to take that shit Flash intro on his site, wouldya? Actually, just tell him to hire a professional web designer 'cause the whole thing is a dog's dinner.

Having said that, where will y'all be staying? Are you going to hang around a while and check out the sights, or is it strictly a fight club thing?

4 nights in the MGM, which is where the fight is.

Hopefully do a bit of sightseeing - the Grand Canyon is high on the list. I went to Vegas about 12 years ago and my biggest regret is not getting round to going to it.

Go Ricky! Go Ricky!
:cheer:

I'll bet you'll have a great time, bb.

All the way to Vegas to see two guys fight? What's the matter, you don't have enough guys fighting over there?

We're actually staying in the Imperial Palace hotel, because by the time we had definite numbers to confirm all the MGM rooms had sold out.

We get there on the Friday night, the fight is on the Saturday night, and we leave Vegas on the Tuesday afternoon.

I'm all excited!

Wow, that's a long way to fly to watch a couple sweaty, semi-naked guys pummel each other. Have fun!

So, months of waiting finally over. I fly out this coming Friday.

I've booked the Grand Canyon trip, also a trip to Red Rock Canyon where you get painting instruction and produce a masterpiece over a few hours (that one's to keep my dad company, not really my thing). We have tickets for Penn & Teller, and for Phantom.

All excited now.

I went to see Penn and Teller when I was in Vegas over the summer. They were awesome. Have a great time!

It's been 12 years since you've been there? You won't even recognize the place!

Last time I was there we went to see Zumanity, I absolutely loved it but it is very raunchy. I bet Penn & Teller will be good. :yup2:

Have a good trip!

Ahh, Phantom. You lucky bastard. I love Phantom. My kids do too. The movie is one of their favourites.:phantom:

Erk. I'll just miss you. Friday's my last evening in Vegas, I drive out Saturday morning.

Well, after roaming around, there's no mistaking in the MGM that the fight will be there.

I think I also heard more British accents than American as I was wandering around this evening.

I'd like to hear about your trip after the fact, but I understand that what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.

After spending a Friday evening in town (I had to leave early, the Army wants me bright and shiny, so I was gone by 1am), I just have to say...

Holy crap, the women in this town are hot.

I miss Household 6.. :(

Ran into lots more British chaps. I rather hope it's a good fight, it would almost be a shame for the fight to be done in two rounds after that long trip. Then again, if it's over early, no harm done. They can spend Saturday evening roaming Vegas... <sigh>

Oh like you haven't been involved in that sort of activity, young man.

Sorry for the delay.

It was massively enjoyable, although 4 days is not nearly long enough when you've flown over from England. I was knackered all the time, and my body clock had only just adjusted by the Tuesday morning when it was time to go to the airport to fly back.

Biggest highlight was the Grand Canyon. Best £200 I've spent in a long time. Pictures don't do it justice. We only got half an hour actually in the Canyon before flying back, and I'd have liked to have spent longer, but it will stay with me for a long time.

Just goes to show, you can travel the world and still meet people you know. I was looking out at the canyon when I heard a shout of my name and a business colleague from back home came walking over to say hello.

The fight itself was great, although the result was obviously disappointing for the Brit contingent - I expected it, but still disappointing. Fantastic atmosphere, and I don't think Hatton disgraced himself.

Penn and Teller was a bit of a let down, to be honest. The show passed on an hour and a half, but I wasn't blown away and I wouldn't particularly rush to see it again next time I'm there. Still, glad I can say I've see them live.

Phantom was well worth the effort. I've never actually seen it live before, and I was very impressed. The Venetian Hotel where it's on is a sight to see as well - that's the one where they have the shopping area with the canal running through it with gondolas on, and lots of fantastic shops all the way around. I went in a lot of the hotels, and they were all impressive in their own way, but I think that was the one I was most taken with.

I went in a group of 6 - myself and my dad, my best mate, his brother and his dad, and another lad I've known for years. There were some 'Vegas' moments for a couple of my mates involving the female attractions, although not for me because I don't mess about on my marriage. Still, plenty of sights to see, and if I was a single man I don't think I'd have bothered coming back...

I played a reasonable amount of blackjack on the cheap tables and wound up slightly down at the end of it. Didn't get chance to play any poker, which is on the list for next time.

I have loads of photos, although I haven't got round to downloading them on to the computer yet. I'll throw them up in the next couple of days.

Cracking trip all in all, and I'm well pleased to have gone.

Thanks for the report, Pen. Sounds like you had fun. I've driven through Vegas a couple times, but only stopped once and then only for as long as it took me to lose $6 in the slots at Excalibur. I've yet to see the Grand Canyon...

I was blown away by the Grand Canyon too. Someday I'd love to do one of those donkey tours where you descend into the gorge even as you swallow yours.

I'm glad you had such a great time. Thanks for the report!

I recall the Grand Canyon as being a bit more red, for some reason. I hope it hasn't faded.
