Are you from the South originally, protinus, or just a fan of the food? Welcome to FF. :welcome1:

P.S. - I love a lower case name that ends in "us". It's a known mark of quality. ;)

You'll note liv that an extra s on the end neither changes the pronunciation or the level of quality.

And welcome aboard, protinus! :hisign:

Wow!! Thanks everyone!

I'm originally from down south- Kentucky and South Carolina. I love Southern food and would like to start cooking again. I can't find good grits and gravy in a city known for it's food!

Grits are a coarse-ground cornmeal traditionally served for breakfast in the south with lots of butter and salt. I'm not a big fan personally, although I have had some truly scrumptious grits on rare occasions, mainly when they were ground a little finer than usual.

Vinny Gambini: How could it take you five minutes to cook your grits when it takes the entire grit-eating world 20 minutes?
Mr. Tipton: Um... I'm a fast cook, I guess.
Vinny Gambini: [across beside the jury] What? I'm sorry I was over there. Did you just say you were a fast cook? Are we to believe that boiling water soaks into a grit faster in your kitchen than any place on the face of the earth?
Mr. Tipton: I don't know.
Vinny Gambini: Perhaps the laws of physics cease to exist on your stove. Were these magic grits? Did you buy them from the same guy who sold Jack his beanstalk beans?

I confess to being a big My Cousin Vinny fan too, but possibly only because it stars my wife, Marisa Tomei.
