Following up on a suggestion I made about a year ago, we've created a new profile field called "Alternate Contact" in the user control panel (http://www.freethought-forum.com/forum/profile.php?do=editoptions). This is a text box which only you and we admins can see, in which you can put your real name, hometown, phone number or any other personally identifying info that we can use to track you down should you ever unexpectedly go missing.
Of course this is entirely optional, but we expect all the cool people to do it.

I put in my sister's details (Goddess Heidi) as an alternative contact in case anything happens to me. livius knows my full name, home address and phone number for cases where nothing happens to me. :)
ETA: It'll be useless to contact her in the event of the Rotorua caldera going boom! however, as she lives in the same town as me. Same goes for a huge earthquake. But I should expect that kind of thing will make the news, so no biggie.

I am paranoid about my privacy so this is not a feature I will be using. I do think the feature is well intentioned. though.

I'm probably already one of the easiest to track members here, I used info that would be helpful if both RA and I up and disappeared.

It probably isn't necessary for me since I know a fellow forum member IRL (kinda). But I think that this is a nice feature and I put in a little information just in case.
Though I plan on doing as little dying as possible. I have lots of FF to lurk, after all.

You realize that ANYONE who sends you a message on YIM will get your full name, right? Because you have your display set to that.
