Hi...
<feet shuffling>
My name is Nullifidian, and I'm a nullifidian.
I'm an old-time poster from IIDB. I'm so old that I remember when they had Perl script boards hosted directly on infidels.org. I've been posting there less and less and now I've decided to make a clean break and come here.
I registered here when I thought about doing that before, and now I think it's finally time. Sadly, the sense of community seems to have waned, and, quite frankly, I'm disappointed with the tone of many of the comments. (e.g. "[Islam] is a spiritual cancer on humanity which unfortunately may one day require a heavy dose of radiation treatment.")That was from over 18 months ago, and I'm amazed I held out so long after reading it, but at the time I was convinced that IIDB was reformable, so I took on the duties of Political Discussions mod as well as E/C mod at the time, and then relinquished both. I'm disappointed, but not downhearted.
I'm looking forward to making this my new home.
Erm...I could have sworn I hit the "New Reply" button, not the "New Thread" button. :bag:

E/C is still a good board, but PD was irredeemable. Apparently everyone thought so, and so they've split it into two more boards which, sadly, has not helped.
It may be the growing pains of a large board, but I don't have any patience for it anymore. If it were still around, I'd probably just have moved off entirely to Prembone's Den of Infidels, a board which split off from Internet Infidels in 1999.
(I've been around so long that I still remember Robyn O'Hair from alt.atheism. Such a wonderful woman, and such a terrible loss. :sadbye:)

I thought I was old school and I registered in September of 2000. I'm a veritable II :baby: compared to you.

I've been on atheist forums online, in some respect or other, for a bit under fifteen years, mainly alt.atheism. I even participated in a BBS for atheists, so that really dates me. The first one on the actual internet that I participated in was the Infidels board, which was initially a two forum Perl script board and then moved to Delphi, and then to its present place (with one or two hiccups). I'll miss it for what it was, but not what it is.
And thank you all very much for the warm reception. :thankee:

I remember people reminiscing about the Perl board, but nowadays folks who were there for the dawn of II are few and far between. I have a vague recollection of the Delphi board, but I didn't register until it was all on UBB.
I miss II sometimes, but like you said, it's a nostalgic sentiment rather than an active desire.

Welcome, Nullifidian!
May we ask your II nick? It's not the same, is it? It has a familiar ring, but I don't recall seeing you around. Though, to be fair, E/C was/is not where I hang out.

Welcome, Nullifidian!
I was a denizen of alt.atheism back when they started assigning numbers. I tired of that and wandered off to find historical Jesus boards, ending up being one of the initial moderators of JesusMysteries on the Yahoo!Groups, which has gone on to be one of the leading historical Jesus discussion groups which will seriously entertain mythicist hypotheses. From there, I was sucked into II, where I spent most of my time in the BC&A forum. Upon being banninated and exiled, I found my way to Hyperboreans and thence to HH, where I was banninated and ended up here. After a brief return to HH, I was banninated once again...evidently for eternity.
Despite my most determined efforts, they have not yet seen fit to banninate me from FF. Although, I would wager that a goodly number of the regulars have me on ignore.
I'm curious about your handle. "Nullifidian" sounds as though it would fit quite well into the Circle of Buptkiss, where nothing is sacred. I'm not quite sure of the similarities and/or differences, so I'm curious as to whether we can zero in on this gap? There's nothing to it.

My II nick was just plain "Kevin".

Nullifidian is a word with "nullus" and "fides" as roots. No faith. It can be used as both a noun and an adjective.
Thanks to all of you for this wonderful welcome. :thankee: :hiya:

I thought it was some kind of bug or maybe a crustacean.
