Michael wishes to apologize everyone who has been hurt by this matter...

Fuck you, asshole. Die in a fire.

With over $160 million from the Falcons for a decade of football one would think Vick would have tried harder not to blow it! In Vick's case you can take Michael out of the projects, but you cannot take the projects out of Michael. What a shame! A year or so in jail and he will be back in football. What a way to reward bad behavior! Those poor dogs!

From Wikipedia:

"...Vick signed a 10-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons worth $130 million with a $37 million signing bonus, making him the highest paid player in NFL history at that time..."

I don't think it's fair to imply that animal cruelty is a natural byproduct of living in the projects.

Agreed. Especially since dogfighting is pervasive in a wide range of societies and backgrounds.

As for Vick, I hope they throw the book at his lying, killing ass.

Arthur Blank is accusing Vick of lying to him and the NFL (http://www.wsbtv.com/news/13932855/detail.html). I can't believe he's surprised.

actually 130 is the total amount and the signing bonus is part of it

not that that matters so much, it is still complete fucking bullshit, you would think he could have managed to not be a dipshit off the field.

well, when you sign someone to a 130 mil contract i think you are emotionally invested in belieing in him, even when its completely fucking stupid.

Vick may face state charges? From the link:

"Among the state laws Vick could be charged with violating are those against dogfighting and animal cruelty. Both are felonies punishable by up to five years in prison."
Vick may still face charges in Va. court - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070822/ap_on_sp_fo_ne/fbn_vick_s_future)

that is bullshit

having been found guilty of a federal crime i think he should walk on the state action.

course i dont think that the feds should have been able to fuck him the way they do. i mean fuck they even threatened to use racketeering against him.

I hope they do as well. As much as I despise dogs, I do not feel that they should ever be abused. Forcing dogs into dogfights for the entertainment of a bunch of sickos is among the worst kind of abuse imaginable.

If he wanted to witnes that kind of violence, he should have stuck to the species whose members can consent to participating in such spectacles.

Yeah, right.

something that bothers me.

ray lewis was with two firends when they stabbed a motherfucker to death after a party. ray turned states evidence, the other two guys were acquitted. anyway rayray was never suspended.

vick is going to surve a year to eighteen months in jail. effectively he will miss two football seasons.

and now people are talking that he should be suspended once he gets out of jail.

i dont like that idea. i mean he is probably going to have problems finding a team to take a chance on him anyway. hell, he will probably have to become a raider. but i dont like teh idea of him serving a long suspension after he serves his jail time.

Then the NAACP can go fuck itself. Vick's actions are repugnant, indefensible and inexcusable. He should not be allowed to resume playing.

IF the other two guys were acquitted, then it seems a court found that Ray wasn't telling the truth about the crime. If not, then the murder grounds are shaky for a suspension.

Now, if Ray (Whoever he is) was later found guilty of perjury, maybe we're onto something.

You are right, however, that there is still something a little excessive about the punishment incomparison to the amount of time you can get for some other crimes.

The only reason any of those guys got prison time is because it was a federal gambling operation rap. Animal cruelty itself, even on that massive murderous scale, doesn't get shit.

LadyShea

Exactly. It's the gambling that the feds care about. The vehicle is immaterial...he would probably have faced the same federal sentence if he had been running poker rooms or some such.

National NAACP takes 'no position' in Vick case (http://www.naacp.org/news/press/2006-08-23/index.htm)

WASHINGTON (AP) Falcons quarterback Michael Vick "is not a victim" and should be held responsible for his actions involving a dogfighting ring in Virginia, the national president of the NAACP said Thursday.

"He absolutely must account for what he has done," Dennis Courtland Hayes, interim president and CEO of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, said in an interview with The Associated Press. He had earlier given similar comments to NBC's "Today" show.

But Hayes cautioned against condemning the Atlanta star too quickly.

"It's real clear that Mr. Vick himself would acknowledge that he has made a mistake," Hayes said. "I think there is reason to believe in his redemption."

Hayes' comments came a day after the head of the NAACP's Atlanta chapter said Vick should be allowed to return to football after the case is resolved.

I see no downside to a lifetime ban from any sport. It's not like he'd be out on the streets starving... But I don't think I want kids adopting him as a role model.

If the police caught Brett Favre (a white quarterback for the Green Bay Packers) running a dolphin-fighting unit out of his pool, where dolphins with spears attached to their foreheads fought each other, would they bust him? Of course not,"

Apparently, MSNBC picked that quote up from an obvious parody site and ran with it (http://www.dolphinfighting.com/).
