I bitch about my boss a lot, as a businessman, but he has always been decent to me as a human being.

Anyway, his aunt died this week, and he shared a copy of the eulogy he had written for her with me. His mother and his aunt (Hungarian Jews) were the only members of their immediate family to survive the concentration camps. They were in a German camp, and after liberation were forced to walk home, back to Hungary, as no transportation was available. Along the road they met a young Czech, also walking home, and he shared an apple with the girls...that man became my boss's father and his mother ended up living in Czechoslovakia with him. His aunt went home to Hungary to search for any relatives that had made it back, and was trapped when they closed the borders. It took years but her sister and brother in law were finally able to bribe the right person and get her out... and my boss was about 7 when he finally met her.

You just never know people's stories do ya?

Wow, that's really something. Is his mom still living?
