ok ladies...and men too, what the hell...what crazy things have you done with your hair? i am italian, had long , down to my butt, black thick sexy curls all my life, then i moved to florida and decided to be a blonde. 10 years of that torture. i did it because i turn very very brown in the sun and wanted a contrast. well it was NOT me. so i went back to dark/brunette. now...yesterday i colored my hair "garnet"...well "garnet" is RED :ladycop: . oh shit. oh, and have you ever heard phrase "collar and cuffs"? it means you have to match top and bottom, i love that expression. what have you done to your crowning glory? tell me so i don't feel like a total twit.

*cough* The worst thing I ever really did was dye my hair mauve. I thought my hair was dark enough it would be more of a highlight. Um, no, it was pretty much purple and that wasn't intentional so in that case, I wasn't pleased. :D

I've never really done anything weird to it besides letting a girlfriend highlight it once. I have dirty-blonde/brownish hair (more blonde in the summer). When I joined the Army the barber asked if I wanted a 1/2 inch or 1/4 inch. I said 1/2 naturally, and of course he laughed and shaved it all off. After a couple years of regularly getting similar shavings I got out and was done with that mess, so let it grow. I think it was about 2 ft. long at one point. I used to wear it in a ponytail. :eek:

They made me cut it short again when I went to rehab, and I've kept it short since.

I went the classic hydrogen peroxide by the pool route when I was 15 or 16. Word to the wise: chestnut hair does not turn blond when bleached. I had that heinous brass in my hair for 2 years before it finally all grew out.

Just about everything.. !! I have wild hair, lots of it, hard to control, and just hard to manage. It grows very fast. So I have had very short hair, real long hair, real curly hair, straight(I put new meaning to stick straight hair). I have had almost blonde hair.. :yipes:

Now I just go with it, leave it dark let it be wild..!! :egad:

Probably the worst thing I ever did to it was put a very dark purple dye in it. One of those Feria permanent ones. I was only about 16 or 17 of course, and I was sick of reds. It took a few months and the occasional helping-redbrown to get it out properly. I can't even imagine myself as a blonde, and I don't think I want to. Utterly. Terrifying. The few tiny bits of evidence of my last shade of reddy-something I put through it a few years ago are almost gone, and will probably be snipped off at the next cut. Woohoo!

Obviously I don't dye my hair anymore. In fact, it's healthier now than it has been for the last 12 or so years. I'm loving it so much I don't want to get it cut, and because it's so healthy it's sitting nicely and may only need a bit of a layer-trim when I do get it done to take some of the heaviness off, but keep the body. It's starting to get a little hot in this weather though, even when I keep it up all the time. Blah. Blah I say!

I've done nothing to my hair except lose it. Back when I had a full head of hair I grew it shoulder length, damn I was proud of that bushy mane. At the time, I was working in the laboratory of a chemical plant. Just to kill some spare time one day, I did a comparison of individual hair strands from a half dozen people under a microscope. I found that my individual hairs were about twice the thickness or more than all the other people's hair. Could explain why mine was so bushy. Perhap the hair thickness is related to why my fingernails and toenails are so thick and strong and grow so fast. Too bad it had little effect on male pattern baldness.

Man I have the worst-hair-ever. I'm seriously, I asked this hair-dresser friend of mine what she reckons I should do with it, she said "....shave it." :irked:

hehe, ok so the most extreme thing was I let it grow down almost shoulder length and I put it in these little plaits so I looked like Head from Korn or kinda like the Rage Against The Machine Guy. After a couple of months I took them out and had the biggest afro in the history of mankind. I actually put a full-sized bath towel on top of it and it just sat there, it didn't even sink. Now I just keep it short and have taken to sweeping it up in the middle in the David-Beckham-Christmas-tree style which I used to despise as being too pretty-boy. Then I worked out that pretty-boy has its perks. :heybabeh:

I was just looking for some pics, but can't find any, so I'll have to describe it. OK, this was back in '79, '80, somewhere around there. I wanted this kind of longish, loose, naturally curly look. So I go to the beauty college for a perm. Oh. My. God. My hair was kinked so fucking tight. And as it grew out - of course it was flat on top, and kinky at the ends - so as it grew out, I started to sport the Bozo look. Fortunately my hair grows pretty fast, so I was able to cut it off pretty quickly.

I got a botched Blue dye job. I have dark hair, so it was bleached beforehand. The dye did not set long enough, so when it was all done, I had blonde hair with blue streaks. Yeech.
