…of head from US arse.
Interesting BBC article (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6973618.stm) about Gen Sir Mike "I'm not going to start the Third World War for you (http://www.freethought-forum.com/forum/showpost.php?p=281608)" Jackson's outspoken criticism of the US strategy in Iraq.
Near the bottom there's this interesting titbit from a senior British politician;
Sir Malcolm [Rifkind, former Conservative foreign secretary and defence secretary] told the BBC: "I think one of the most fundamental criticisms is not just that Rumsfeld was incompetent - which he was - but it was actually his boss, George Bush, who actually made the extraordinary decision to put the Pentagon and Rumsfeld in control of political nation-building after the actual war ended."
Shame our politicians didn't make more fuss at the time! It might have made the world a bit safer and saved a lot of British, American, and Iraqi lives.
