On very rare occasions we come across a thread that seems to be clearly misplaced. For example a (hypothetical) thread titled "Who likes Football?" in the "Computers & Technology" forum instead of the "Lifestyle" forum. In the early days of the FF we stated that we would not move such a thread without first seeking the approval of the thread starter.

However, since it is such a rare occurrence and members almost never object to moves, we're planning to change things around to make the system more efficient*. So from now on we're going to automatically move threads that appear to be misplaced, with the understanding that we will gladly move it back should the thread starter request that we do so.

Thoughts?

*More efficient in the sense that we won't have to PM the person and wait for a response before acting. It can sometimes be days before we hear back on a PM.

Move away. I'm stupid enough that I'm highly likely to put the wrong thing in the wrong forum, let alone in the wrong thread.

I have no objections. I've always been flabbergasted whenever someone kicked up a huge fuss about a thread being moved.

Oh, sure. This is how it always starts. First they're moving threads that are 'out of place' and the next thing you know it, they're trying to take over the world! Liv and Vm are probably already polishing their jackboots...

Much more of this and I'll have to move the thread to Sexuality. :gestapo:
