After using my trusty Athlon 2400 for the last six years They has finally entered the modern computing age. I have a nice entry level computer. Hooray! Athlon 3600+ 64 X2, gig of DDR2 RAM, potential for PCI-E card. I'm happy. Even though I only have a gig of RAM and I'm sharing that with onboard graphics I can see the difference. I loike it.

And now I'm getting annoyed. Twice now the screen has gone haywire and the computer has refused to respond. Then when I press the reset button it takes ages to find the IDE drives and then doesn't see the slaved DVD drive. I turn the computer off, then back on and it's all good again. The first time it was reading off a flash drive, the second time I was playing Empire Earth 2. Anyone got any ideas?

That's not a good machine.

No one likes a smart arse. Hence my lack of friends.

Does it have temperature monitoring drivers? Also, try taking out one of the RAMs in turn if there are several.

The temperature is fine and unfortunately it only has one stick of RAM at the moment. If it persists I'll take it in and get him to check it.

I wish I could help but I'm not much of a hardware guru. I stopped building my own systems years ago in favor of buying Dells.

It hasn't had a problem since. Hopefully they were just teething problems. I'm back to liking it, although it still stutters during EE2.
