View Full Version : Ghostrider has no soul, or plot, or acting.....

I just spent an hour and a half watching that tripe. I demand ninety minutes of life back. The acting was wooden, the script atrocious and the plot, where it existed, was threadbare. Eva Mendes, almost, but not quite, balanced it. But damn, she had a lot to balance, she really had no chance.

You were expecting Citizen Kane? :P

I'd be surprised if it was as bad as the 70s comics where the character first appeared. Ghost Rider has always been lame. The only reason it survived at all was the 'look' and that doesn't make a bad character into a good one.

It was a special effects love fest, which was obvious right at the beginning when the credits were given a fancy straight from a freshman spec-effect student's computer look.

The way he killed the 'bad guys' was lame too. No fighting, just "here let me do something with my chain thingy, oops you dead now." The only cool character was the devil. Oh and that Penance stare thing. The care-bear stare could so kick his ass.

I would have been happy with Days of Our Lives:D

Instead of wasting a full 90 minutes, just watch/listen to this "Ghostrider" by Henry Rollins--its just as lame but shorter by 84:07.

I didn't know Henry Rollins went through a Jim Morrison phase.

Suicide's Ghost Rider (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuEBDuAtEXk) The '77 song of class. Suicide's debut is a must, pretty much a classic, don't watch the video, it's crap....

I couldn't have put it better myself. That was bad, and I generally like Henry Rollins.

... The acting was wooden, ...

It's Nicholas Cage, wooden is to be expected.

The question is what kind of wood? I'm thinking something rigid with little substance... Balsa maybe?

Would that Nick Cage were that flammable. :sigh:

There's a guy based in Stockholm who calls himself Ghostrider. He's been making and selling videos for a few years now showing him driving through traffic at outrageous speeds and performing stunts on open roads.

Wheeeeelies...

Would that Nick Cage were that flammable. :sigh:Thank the gods that he never got to play Superman, a part he says he always wanted to play... er, ruin.

Didn't Cage name his child Ka'el or whatever Superman's real name was? He is one man who follows through on his obsessions. He loves Elvis, so he marries his daughter, loves Superman, names his son after him. He is a little odd.

nick cage is a decent actor and he rules with an iron fist

but ghost rider sucked.

and for those of you dissin the comic,

well sure the early ghost rider wasnt that cool, but some of the relaunches in cluding the most recent one were good times.

I was speaking only of the 70s incarnation. Never bothered with 90s version. That was about the time I was getting out of comics and he was so overhyped I wouldn't have touched it anyway.

fair enough, i just always thought that ghost rider was a great concept that was rarely written well and largely wasted

sadly the nick cage ghost rider had more in common with the 70s than the later incarnations.

I can see that. The look of the character was certainly cool. It's unfortunate that the Marvel horror idea in the 70s was superheroes who got their powers from Satan and fought demons who acted like supervillains.

The Henry Rollins song rules, and I am not a comic book nerd. Quite the opposite, actually. It's a good thing I like it, too, since it always gets stuck in my head when I hear or read the words "ghost rider".

It's not for the lack of opportunity...I've listened to Rollins "Ghostrider" the hundreds if not thousands of times I've played The Crow OST. I love nearly all of Rollins stuff, but I think vm hit the nail on the head with this one...

I wanted to want to like it. It's just that I can't.

I am compelled to hit "track ^" about 2:48 in because I suddenly realize what it is that is annoying me.

But that doesn't mean it doesn't get stuck in my head. Like for about 4 hours after I posted the youtube vid

Ghost. Riiiider! Mo-tor cycle...He-ro...!
