I'm hanging out with you Americans too much. I noticed that my spelling is slowly changing. I spelt honour without a "u" recently, and am finding myself having to think more and more about how we spell things down here in the British Commonwealth.

I must remember those "u"s in honour, colour, humour, etc. And I must try really hard to not let too many "s"s become "z" (that's "zed", by the way, not "zee") in words such as authorise, realise, etc.

Damned American cultural hegemony! I must resist. I must resist. I must resist!

Y'know now that you mention it, I went through a period of serious confusion about how to spell those words in my early 20's and it now occurs to me that it probably had something to do with my reading a lot of European authors around then. Thanks!

Oh ya, that damned omnipresent octopus-like American culture.. Here on the tundra resistance becomes even more crucial. I'm afraid I've become neither fish nor fowl as my spelling has become a mixture, a mongrel if you will.

why up here many peeps are actually referring to those giant store as Walmarts rather than the correct Canadian term "Exploitive Bastards" :D

Ach ... damnit! A picture -- or smilie, in this case -- is worth a thousand words. Er, well, maybe not a thousand. I wasn't going to write that many, but Ymir's post says what I was going to say, but much more succintly.

I thought this was going to be a thread about me. I was going to ask what Livius gave you to start it.

Don't worry. There are others on your side.
