Ymir's blood just texted me this news. It's not a shock, since I've followed his struggle with the disease on his blog (http://www.dragonmount.com/RobertJordan/). I jumped into his Wheel of Time series after book 10 had already been published so I haven't had the gazillion years with that universe as many of his fans.

I appreciated every moment I have lived there.

He felt a grave responsibility to his fans and his outline for the final book (A Memory of Light) was complete, from what I understand. I appreciate this dedication, strong even through his illness.

Still, I think I've enjoyed getting to know him personally through his many blog entries. He was a great guy and I'm glad I got to know him via the Internet and his epic series.
