A first edition of Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Ernest was given to a charity shop in a handbag (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/staffordshire/7052476.stm).

How appropriate and funneh!

Was it in a cloakroom in Victoria Station?

Aw, I thought someone had bought the handbag for pound or something only to find the book inside. That's so much more Indiana Jones fun. :sadcheer:

Yebbut, liv, they didn't mention the Nazis storming the charity shop and the huge concrete ball that flattened the place 10 minutes later. BBC News is like that. :sadnod:

Charity shop: Mr. Wilde. Again we see there is nothing you can possess which I cannot take away.
Oscar Wilde: FUCK YOU CHARITY SHOP.

I wonder who is gonna get to cash in on that?

I periodically check my local goodwill or garage sales for rare books for my collection or to sell on ebay. People never realize the value of an old book.
