I'm sorry! I know it's a cheap joke; I just couldn't resist. :sadcheer:

The world's most expensive cat (http://www.metro.co.uk/news/article.html?in_article_id=73449)

They are hybrids, cross bred from two wild c a t s – t h e African serval and the Asian leopard cat – with one type of domestic cat.

The bespoke cats stand more than 1m tall (3.3feet) on their hind legs and grow to a top weight of 30lb.

They are gorgeous, no denying that:

I would've bet money this was about an expensive sex-change operation when I clicked on this thread.

Damn you, livius.

I'm pretty sure they look freaky, standing around on their hind legs like that.

Despite the breeder's? inventor's? opinion, I'd be very concerned about their temperament.

Gorgeous, but I worry about the wisdom of trying to keep wild/domesticated hybrids as pets. Wolf hybrids aren't temperamentally dogs that just happen to look like wolves, as many people hoped. The cross breeding doesn't really make up for thousands of years of domestication.

I'm generally opposed to hybrids. There seems to often be a clashing of instincts and that leads to personality conflicts.

To say nothing of carpet/upholstery ruination and bite wounds.

mmeeeeehhhh!!!

I jokingly refer to myself as a "hybrid", being half Cherokee and half Irish....

Peronality conflicts? Clashing of instincts? Me? Never...:D:innocent:

Errrr on second thought that would explain much about my behavior...:chin::doh:

So exotic looking! I have a friend with 3 Bengal leopard cats, but they are quite small. (like these ones)

They have the most beautiful markings. :vibes:

The Bengal's are beauties too. From my understanding they only sell 4th generation (from the wild cat) as domestic housepets, and 1-3 generations only as exotics.

The article from the OP doesn't mention anything similar with this new breed.

ETA: My mom's rescue cat looks an awful lot like the Bengals. Spotty markings, long legs, very muscular. Wonder if mom got a cool breed from the pound?

I'm a fan of pixie bobs, myself.

Reputed to be a crossbreed of domestic cats and bobcats/lynx, it's probably, in reality, a mutation that produces a large adult (about twice the size of a typical felinus domesticus, rather like Maine coons) with polydactel paws. They have a reputation for being really docile creme-puffs.

Such pretty kitties! I love the idea of house cats that size. I'm just worried about ...

But they do have hypoallergenic puppies!
