Looks like it's my turn to host/plan ladies night. Last time we did a clothing swap, which was really great. In the past we have beaded, and helped plan our friends wedding.
With the holidays and many birthdays in our group coming up, I thought maybe we could exchange and/or renew wrapping paper, gift bags, holiday cards etc. Everyone could bring their stash, plus various embellishments like ribbon, buttons, broken jewelry, stamps, paint and such.
We do an ornament exchange, White Elephant style, during a party with everyone (including the hubbies), and I am doing cookies/candies with family so both those are out.
Any other ideas?

I like the wrapping accouterments idea. There's a lot of range for crafting there.
How about connecting it to something charitable? There are so many Christmas charities that collect gifts and goods. Maybe they could use some free hand-crafted wrapping paper/holiday crafts.

Oh good idea. We could also do a toy exchange (there are like 6 kids under 10 amongst us), then anything nobody else wants we could clean up and box or wrap for donation.

Misogynist! I can be LadyShea and SoccerMom all at the same time because I have a vagina or something! Don't try to force me into a box!
Anyway we drink a lot too, but most of my friends are crunchy so we try to do something constructive as well.

You could make homemade coupon books to give to spouses/parents/friends for Christmas.

That's a good one, Wildy! You could also do one with recipes that everyone supplies as well.
How about making your own holiday cards? Places like JoAnns or Michaels have nice scrapbooking supplies that would do very well for a crafting project like that.

I recommend handmade christmas cards and gift tags. I did both last year, and it was a lot of fun.

I love the wrapping paper idea and the holiday recipes too.
I recently read in a magazine where someone had an office party where they drew names and got a new toy for that person that described them somehow. At the end of the night all the toys are donated to charity. It might be something fun to do with some close friends.

That's a great idea! You get all the fun of the present exchange and a charitable activity at the same time. Also, no clutter.
