So, between fangirling World War Z and finalising my Christmas-in-Japan trip, I've decided to make a laptop sleeve. I mean, it can't be that hard, right? A few bits of cardboard or cheap rubber, some material and a sewing machine can't destroy the world?
Anyway, the point of this thread is, have you ever done anything before that is suitably crafty in the feminine sense (ie- not painting your wargames figurines) but still kept your geek-cred?
Post pictures if you can, so we can marvel at your craft-fu.

Ooh! Ooh! I have stuff. I'm still asleep, tho, so I'll come back later.

I made sugar cookies for Christmas and drew DNA structures on them in frosting.
I own my geekhood.

Laptop sleeve?
Yeah, y'know, something you just slip your laptop into that isn't a huge clunky bag, and that helps to protect the laptop from bangs and weathering.

What model sewing machine? Define 'material.'
This was meant as a challenge, right?

Yes.
Okay, I don't have pics to post. I could scan, but it's too huge and if I scale it down it won't be recognizable, so I'll just tell you.
I make scrapbook pages, just like any other lame scrapbooker, but I don't have a bunch of photos of kids running around going to birthday parties and crap. I have photos of me at various Star Trek events, photos with aliens, autographed photos of Star Trek actors, photos of myself with Star Trek actors, photos of myself in Star Trek costumes, photos on the bridge of the Enterprise, photos with the actual Enterprise, ticket stubs from various Star Trek events. That kind of crap. I have dozens of 12" x 24" layouts of the theme "Star Trek".
This is my favorite paper to use cuz it has that retro-futuristic 1950's space age look to it:

I still might scan one of my layouts one of these days if I feel like it.
I do want to see your laptop sleeve when it's done.

I just laughed SO FUCKING HARD at you, Ensign Steve.
I mean 'with you.' I laughed with you.
Oh, and you guys should document your projects and put them up on instructables.

I got my idea from here. (http://isoglossia.com/?p=375)
Here's a picture (http://huntingthesnark.com/images/laptopSleeve.jpg) of my results. I should add, that I taped a manilla folder into the pouch, so the laptop (iBook) slides in and out easily.

Old exercise mat I cut up. eta: also, all sides are double, and the bottom corners triple. I think it's pretty sturdy.

I don't know if this counts, but did I ever show you guys my badass computer hutch thing?
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2/lisarea/hutchthing.png
It was the bookshelf and cupboard from a children's bedroom set, and I stripped it and refinished it, then tore the bottom off the bookshelf and attached it to the top of the cupboard thing with brackets. Then I cut holes in the back for cords and little hooks to hang shit on.
Also, the thing my modem is under is a turned upside down and spraypainted napkin holder. It's connected to a separate router that was on top, but I moved that to my desk to fuck with it and haven't put it back yet, because some guy stuck his desk in front of it, so I can't get to it anymore. That is also why it's all messy and dusty, so don't yell at me about that.
Also, I didn't even notice how many cords there were flying all over the place like that until I looked at that picture, so don't yell at me about that, either.
So just quit picking on me, OK?

I've wanted a new book bag pretty much since purchasing my last one. It was the only thing remotely acceptable at the time, but with way too many pouches. Then it started falling apart within six months. It's been held together with safety pins for years...
Finally found something interesting at a thrift store this past weekend. I made a patch to cover up the movie logo and did some repair work on the inside with a needle and thread. Sort of like the 'D' rings, sort of don't but whatever.

Jesse spins and knits, and actually made a yarn which, knitted, looks surprisingly like imbued netherweave.
On purpose.
