It is not even :turkey: day yet and since I got to work this morning, the radio station that we have on at work has played nothing but f'n x-mas and Christmas music ALL FUCKING MORNING! EVERY FUCKING SONG! :tantrum: Even with little blurbs in between the sicky sweet goo [snipped in the spirit of x-mas season to come :giggle:] about how it's the x-mas season. Hello? Helloooooooo??! No, it is NOT x-mas season! We haven't even had :turkey: day yet, you fucking sensless morons! :ranting:
Now, put back on the regular crap that you subject us to every day. PUT IT BACK! :glare: At least it's better than x-mas music ALL DAY LONG when it's still before Thanksgiving! :hairpull:

He's calling you an anti-Christmas, anti-falafel, feminazi, I believe. It's all right there in the hover text.
:unnod:
I've been brewing my Christmas-too-early rant since November 1st. Halloween has just ended and the Seasonal Isle at the supermarket was already stuffed with Happy fucking Holidays bullshit. It's so I can't enjoy the peaceful three weeks of November before the madness begins. I mean, sweet 8½ pound baby Jesus (my favorite Jesus) can't you let us be fucking thankful for what we have before we run off begging for more shit that we don't need?

My ears.... the burning... make it stop. :explode:
I worked at a KMart while going to school, a store where the manager was an Elvis fanatic. Every year we would be subjected to Elvis' Christmas Album (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elvis%27_Christmas_Album) repeated continually from after Thanksgiving until New Years.
I think that is covered as torture under the Geneva Convention now.

Hee hee hee. I was making cards with some friends this weekend and we had the radio on, which was playing Christmas songs, of course. And of course I was singing along with every one of them, and the lady at the table next to me kept looking up cuz she thought I was talking to her. I'm like, "nope, still singing."
It all started with, "Last Christmas, I gave you my heart. The very next day, you gave it away..."

Christmas shit has been going on here since the last of September and I am bloody well tired of it. STOP IT, STOP IT!!!!!
It is hard enough for people who are stressed to the limit because they can't get kids what they want for christmas so why in the hell are they rubbing it in their faces.... after all they have taken the layaway factor away for most folks so it is like they are saying see ya, screw ya! Christmas music shouldn't start until after December 1st and as far as I am concerned neither should the turning on of Christmas lights. --I don't think Christ would be to happy to know that this supposed birthday of his has become one big commercial gig. This to me would represent a golden calf or idol in my book. Worship the all might fuckin dollar, yeah, that's right!
Running Christmas into Halloween is the last straw for me. I have always enjoyed Halloween, not this year. Take note that the holiday cheer for Halloween and Thanksgiving are very small this year, not only in the stores, but TV commercials as well. Even TV sitcoms are trying to avoid them. Sucks man, just sucks.....

If only I could, Shelli. I've already got one Atlanta station in my sight, it started in with the Jingle Bells the day after Halloween. Too.Fuckin.Early!
But I'll still take that velvet Elvis off your hands. I found one on Ebay I liked a few months ago, but it was $80. But it still wasn't as good as the velvet matador in the local Mexican place. I <3 tacky.
Shelli
11-20-2007, 02:26 AM
I'm attracted to some kinds of tacky myself. I think my dislike of Elvis has more to do with my late step-monster's mother's obsession with Elvis than his music or velvet depictions, because if not that, it really doesn't make any sense to me why I'd have such a negative reaction to it. I say that because the only music that I can say I can't stand is hard rap and hard metal. Everything else, if I don't actually like it, I can at least tolerate it to an extent. So, well, sorry Elvis. I'll leave you out of this. :patpat:

In defense of the disk jockeys on the station that we listen to at work, they are again this all day, every day, till x-mas, especially starting before :turkey: day, x-mas music. It's the owner of the radio station that has made it an order that they'd rather not fulfill.
The disk jockeys feel it's a bad idea in that they'll lose listeners (I agree) and they've started a poll for listeners to weigh in with their opinions on the subject.

All it took was a little :snowflake: to knock the :grinch: out of you? Good thing you're there, not here.
Augusta, Georgia. Hottest city in the US today. 80 degrees. (That's 27 degrees to the furriners). :sun:
Love it!
Shelli

Yep, apparently, that's all it took. :snowflake:
Good that you're there and I'm here then. I don't like the warmer climates much at all. I'm orginally from upstate NY on Lake Ontario. Now, THAT'S winter. :snowman:

We didn't even hit that in the summer

Yep! I'm from Southern California, and I have never lived in a place where it snows. I've only even seen snow a couple times in my life. It frightens and confuses me.

I switched my iPod from xmas music to Serj Tankian for my long drive over Thanksgiving, but I think I'm ready to put it back now. :wriggle: I added Wham's "Last Christmas" as well as "I want a hippopotamus" to my rotation. I'm still looking for Feliz Navidad and the Cheech and Chong song (that one's for my mom).
You reminded me ... the reason I'm cleaning so much this week is because I forbade myself to put the tree up until the house was organized. What was I thinking?! :ohnoes:

I know what you mean. The station we usually listen to at work switched over to all Christmas all the time a week before Thanksgiving. Too early! We found another one, and now that one is playing Christmas stuff night and day. (we have lousy reception and can only get a handful of stations clearly).
Ordinarily Christmas really isn't Christmas for me until I hear Happy Xmas (War is Over) and Do They Know It's Christmas but I've already heard both of them at least 10 times (and I'll hear them at least 20 more times before Christmas). Kind of cheapens it for me.
And ENOUGH with The Carol of the Bells already!

Carol of the Bells kicks ass. You people have no taste. Also, Sleigh Ride. :wriggle:
Shelli
11-28-2007, 04:18 PM
I'm getting used to it because it's that or be pissy about it and, meh, it is what it is. The only songs I just can't stand are the overtly religious ones. :jesus:
I got the work x-mas tree up though and it looks better than last year because I brought in some x-mas lights to replace those that decided not to work last year only AFTER I had them on the tree. They worked fine when I tested them. :brooding:
Anyway.. Yay! X-mas tree! :treeglomp:

I like Carol of the Bells or Sleigh Ride, but performed on sousaphone and accordian, not so much.

Actually, neither have I, but then again, I've avoided places and radio stations that play Xmas music.

I enjoy the Christmas stylings of John Prine, "Christmas in Prison"
Here's the closest I could find on youtube, not as good as his version (then again he wrote the thing).
YouTube - Christmas in Prison (John Prine cover)
For those who have slow connections it starts out, "It was Christmas in prison, and the food was real good, we had turkey and pistols carved out of wood,..."
Good times!

Shelli, I feel your pain now.
At work today in one of the buildings I was working in the radio played nothing but Xmas music for an hour. If I have to listen to it, I'd rather listen to Bing Crosby or the older stuff, not boy bands sing Christmas :puke:

Since my boss quit who would have been the only one adverse averse (just caught myself there, thanks again, vm ) to changing the radio station we had on, today we changed the station to a classic rock station that normally I can't stomach but it's a breath a fresh air after weeks of non-stop x-mas music already with weeks to go :bleh: and it's something we could all agree on.
Thanks be to :tigger: for making the noise stop.

Against my better judgment, I've succumbed to the season. Sort of. I bought two Christmas albums for friends. That and the weight of this secret white Santa gifting thing is dragging me into the spirit.
