Damn, I can't believe how expensive the electronics are.

Damn, I can't believe how expensive the electronics are.You mean you wouldn't pay $500 for a 19" TV?

No, I really wouldn't. I also wouldn't pay sixty bucks for a clock radio, or however much it was. And VCRs were almost 400. This is the christmas price? Imagine how bad it was the rest of the year.

I had these- in red. I wore them at least once per week.

I don't even want to think of what I was wearing in '82.

My parents have the Caesar salad bowl on a tripod. Although I think it's older. And made out of actual wood from an actual tree.

I wouldn't wear it if you paid me $25. This coming from the woman who covets the "body thing" from the 1971 catalog.

 All the models look like a cross between my mom and the cast of Working Girl.

Yabbut, you could get this attractive versatile home entertainment system (http://www.flickr.com/photos/wishbook/231090821/in/set-72157594229749541/) with AM-FM FM stereo, cassette player/recorder 8-track player (I thought those were extinct by 1982!) and an LED digital clock radio for only $149.

Sadly, I no longer have mine. Oh, for the days when I looked like the non-Sara Jessica Parker Square Peg...

:giggle:I wish. Mine didn't have the cassette, which is really unfortunate because I never did own any 8-track tapes.

(Unintentional pun intended.)No kidding, sometimes the nightgowns and slips would show a little nipple bump. Good times!

At one time, I did have all of those figures and toys. Although, not the cardboard backdrop.
You know, Hasbro has recently released a 25th Anniversary line for GI Joe. Mostly faithful to the original line, but with increased articulation and improved sculpts.
I should start a thread about it.

I have everything but two Joes (Rock n' Roll and maybe Stalker) and the Missile System, IIRC. I may have gotten Stalker later from a flea market years later, can't remember. I can't remember if I have the original jeep but do have the Cobra version that Sears released later.
Oh, didn't have the tent either or the backdrop either. Did have the Cobra Commander figure, but it came through mail order with the proofs of purchase.

thanks for posting this...it was a blast looking back at the past through the pages of this magazine (videotaping what was hot in 1982 would have cost a fortune!).

Just look at all those bright colors. I wonder what the lead content of all that paint and pigment was back then?
(This all a little after my time, I think I stopped caring about the Sears Wish Book in the mid 70s. But I can still remember looking through the pages as a preteen - a lot of fun!)

Lead paint restrictions started in '78 so my guess is that there wouldn't have been a lot in that.
