So I'm here in Japan and stuck with a nasty throat infection in Kyoto. Unfortunately, like many tihngs, Japan has yet to get with the program* regarding pharmacy and start using codeine and pseudoephedrine in their cold medication.

So I need to know of some good alternates that might be available over the counter here, or of some dead-certain natural remedies I can get my hands on. I can read the katakana to an extent where I know what the generics in the box I'm getting are, and I only got home today with my little yellow box to realise they basically gave me a bunch of shitty vitamins that will do nothing.

I think I can get ibuprofen in one, so maybe that will help. But anything else is greatly appreciated. I can't even find a fucking vegetable store to buy some lemons to make lemon tea. ;_;

*Ditto with smoking allowances in restaurants and pubs, which is one of the reasons my tonsils are all swollen and gross and infected at the moment. Fuckin' idiots...

I'm not falling for this again.

See a doctor. There should be one that speaks English or you can get a translator.

Anyway, I hope it goes away soon and you have fun in Japan.

Blowfish. What doesn't kill you makes you feel like you are dying.

Last time Adora asked for some help with a medical problem, Qingdai offered some advice and ended up having her head bitten off by Adora.

Once burned by fire, never play with it again.

I don't know why any of you bother dealing with her. When she asks for help, she rarely thanks anyone when she gets it. When the advice doesn't pan out, she hands out abuse.

I didn't know :ff: had a sainthood program.
