HEY YOU!

:bhello:

OK, mostly this thread was for JD (or Jen, as I know she looooves it when I call her ;) ) to say that I got her postcard (my grandma was scandalized/intrigued by the artwork!) but also just to say hey again to many of those who I have been out of touch with. My internet access was sketchy for a while. My friend's keyboard (one of those natural thingies) is so annoying that I cannot find it in me to PM everyone that I want to say hi to. Therefore, mass greeting. How's the New Year?

:roflmao:

Oh my god, that is too funny. I saw you active on the board, and so I went on MSN messenger to ping you personally, but you're not on. Then I saw the new topic, and two things happened before I even clicked the link to read it.

1: That song started playing in my head.
2: I thought, could that be for me, since I have PMs turned off? No way, that's just way to self-involved to be true.

Tee hee! Which post card did you get? I sent out 8 Pink Floyd cards and they are all different. Maybe The Wall, hence the song? Sorry for scandalizing grandma! Turn on your MSN.

HUGS

Yay, you got it! :highfive2:

I'm on a friend's computer and I don't think he has MSN but I will check.

The postcard was the one with the naked chicks from the rear view with waves and water and stuff. Quite pretty :)

Why do they even call those damned keyboards "natural"? Are they grown without pesticides or something? As far as I know, they're made by Indonesian children just like every other keyboard, only with the keys placed as if your hands were attached backwards.

I say get a helper monkey and fuggedaboudit. :D

Why do they even call those damned keyboards "natural"? Wondering what the hell a "natural keyboard" was, I figured I'd do a google search... then I thought, I want a picture, not a description, "image search (http://images.google.com/images?q=%22natural%20keyboard%22&hl=en&lr=&c2coff=1&safe=off&sa=N&tab=wi)" is what I really want...so.... What was the first hit?

Yah, what can I say. Even though I am from the school of "know you you PM and whether you can trust them" I'm pretty sure the admins on this board are still in favor of leaving the contents of Private Messages, well, Private. So since I'm discouraged from posting the bull crap I receive via PM on the board for all to see, I've decided to force my attackers to do it themselves. ;) no biggie. Everybody I love has my email address anyway.

Ensign Steve
01-16-2005, 04:53 PM
Meh, but how do I know who the cowards are until after they PM me, and by then its too late. :P

Edit: Seriously, it's no big deal. I never used PM much in the first place. I'm too histrionic to have conversations in private, where everybody can't enjoy them. Plus then I'm less likely to become involved in a "clique" (yeah right).

viscousmemories
01-16-2005, 04:58 PM

Gah, I am not going to answer that post until you clean it up a bit!

Or is that how you get away with ending a question with a preposition? By changing the spelling so it's not a preposition anymore?

Oops. I can't believe I used too instead of to.

Oh well, fortunately I haven't found a clique that'd have me as a member, so I don't really have any forms to send you.

I guess you're SOL.

So, um, since we're out in the open and all, anyone care to fill me in on what's going on?

Nothing's going on, outside of what you've read in this thread. I turned off PMs, and my problem was solved. That was a while ago, and anything before that is old news to me.

wade-w
01-16-2005, 05:18 PM
I am at a loss as to how the one PM I sent you could be interpreted as an attack. I was simply offering an explanation that you asked for. I chose to do it via PM to avoid derailing what was meant to be a light hearted thread. I added some advice, since I grew up in the South, and I know how people who live there, right or not, will perceive certain comments.

And as far as the clique thing goes, you can all kiss my ass.

Good bye.

Wade, I made that clique joke before you even started posting in this thread today. I assure you I was not in any way thinking about you or the prior discussions we've had on the subject when I said it. Of course in retrospect I can see why you would think otherwise, but that really isn't the case. And I didn't know anything about your dispute with JD, either. So no, I'm not going to kiss your ass. :P

That's the cover for "Shine On," the box set that I bought that had all 8 post cards in it. Scandalous, indeed.

I have natural keyboards on both my main PCs. I bought them to encourage me to touch type, and it worked. Twenty-odd years of looking at the keyboard instead of the screen. I used to go just as fast with two fingers (actually I used about four fingers) but now I can feel morally superior to the other programmers, and I don't type a whole sentence with the CAPS LOCK on before I realise.

Ensign Steve
01-16-2005, 11:38 PM
Maybe that's why I can deal with them. I touch-type and always have. They feel totally, well, natural to me. Where I spod, it's usually too dark for me to see the keyboard. It's on a tray that makes it so even the light of my monitor doesn't illuminate it. That makes it tough when I'm looking for some obscure punctuation, but that's the only time I ever even notice that I can't see the keyboard.

Dingfod
01-16-2005, 11:42 PM
I touch-type as well, but have never tried the "natural" keyboards. I was intrigued once by a hinged in the middle keyboard that had an adjustable angle for a more natural angle of the wrists, depending on the individual. That's what I wonder about the "natural" keyboards, is it built to acommodate everyone regardless of size and shape of hands and fingers? I think not.

Edit: Here's the one I saw.

Ensign Steve

Probably not, but it's built on the principle that almost nobody has their arms growing out directly forward of their chest.

Edit: wow, that's weird.

livius drusus
01-16-2005, 11:48 PM
I saw a keyboard that was a sphere on a flat base once on 60 Minutes or something. The professional typist who was testing it for them loved it and it looked totally space age.

Oh! I've seen that one. I almost bought it for my Palm, but I elected instead for the 3/4 size one that folds up to about the size of the Palm itself. I'll look for it.

Edit: wow that was easy!
http://www.palmone.com/us/products/accessories/keyboard/
Weighing in at less than 8 ounces, this full-size keyboard folds into a size just slightly bigger than a Palm™ handheld itself, making it a practical enhancement for those seeking the speed of data entry that only a keyboard provides.

No. Two different robots. Similar? Yes, they were both designed by the same man, Robert Kinoshita. In fact, Robby made two guest appearances on Lost in Space. In one of those appearances Robby did battle with B9.

Robby had it all over B9 for mobility, but B9 was a lot faster and was able to dispense lightning bolts from his pincers.
