View Full Version : Perpetual loop: Free pizza

When I moved into my apartment, I received a voucher for a free pizza from a local shop, welcoming me into the neighborhood. I ordered the pizza, and about 45 minutes after it was scheduled to arrive, I called the shop to follow up on my order and they said it was on its way. It showed up a short while later.
Today in the mail, I received a post card from the pizza shop, saying that they were sorry my recent service had been unsatisfactory, and would I please accept a free pizza from them to make amends. I ordered another one, and it arrived 40 minutes after the time they said it would.
I gave the driver a tip and the post card, and he handed the card back telling me that I should use it again since he took so long to get my order to me.
Apparently, I have an unlimited supply of pizza, as long as I'm okay with its always being late and cold. Hooray!

Perhaps you could sabotage the delivery person's car and get free cold pizza every night.
I have a potential perpetual loop on movie passes going right now. When I went to see Alexander they gave me a free pass for starting the movie late and another one because it sucked so bad (actually because they had film problems in the middle). Went to see Phantom of the Opera on the passes, it started late, got two more passes. Can't wait to see another free movie. Next time I'm filling my jacket lining with popcorn so I don't have to pay for their high dollar popcorn. I cannot watch a movie at a theater without popcorn.

I've been in the pizza loop before. It was a fine way to survive back in the fresh out of college, no more daddy's credit card, barely employed days.

My absolute record is getting 5 pizzas for negative six dollars. But one of them was nearly inedible.
We ordered several pizzas. I think four. I have a quirk, which is that I order pizza with the toppings under the cheese; it cooks better. There was a screwup, so two of our pizzas were ready, but two weren't. So there was a delay. So they gave us the two late pizzas free. So then there was some other problem, and they gave us a coupon for more pizza, and so on, and the net result is that I went home with five pizzas (one with no cheese, which was nearly inedible, though still technically food) and more store credit than I had paid money for the pizzas.
I've done the loop, too. I think I got $10-15 off every order I made for a while at a friend's house; their pizza place simply couldn't get that order right.

http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/12/12_12_14.gif Woooo!! what a deal. I would ride the PIZZA TRAIN AS LONG AS YOU CAN KIDDO..
Next time add something to the order, bread stick, salad.. if it's late again. I'm sure you would get all the additional items free.. :yup: :yup:
OK WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE PIZZA SHOP..?? I FEEL LIKE FREE PIZZA.. :giggle: :giggle:

Dunno, I've only gotten the pizza. Same thing every time. 1 free large 2-topping pizza. Where I come from, that spells pepperoni and sausage.

I would feel like a very fortunate man if something like that happened to me and if instead of a pizza it were a filleted salmon with beer, a steak au poivre with wine, or something else that fits my daily dietary stardards.

My worst delivery horror story doesn't involve pizza. It was a BBQ place that had just opened in town, and my friends and I were playing D&D one Saturday. I think this was about 10 years ago. The general pattern was that most of us would skip breakfast and we'd start at 10am. Someone would bring up food at around 5, and we'd end up actually ordering it by 6 or 7pm. Well for some reason, I was really starving when the game began as were several of the other players, so we brought up food at about noon. We decided to call the BBQ place by about 3pm, and we placed a huge order. We hand't seen anything by 4pm, so we called, and they said they had misplaced the order, and were starting it over. It took several phone calls and a couple hours later, but they finally delivered the BBQ and gave us a huge discount. We opened it, and immediately realized that they hadn't finished cooking it. So, there we are at about 7pm, starving beyond belief with uncooked meat in front of us. We thought about calling to complain, but we were so hungry by then that we just shoved it in the oven for about 40 minutes. At that point it was cooked anyway, but it tasted awful, and I recall thinking that some of the meat looked a little off color as I ate it. I was so hungry I just blew it off. Next day I was horribly sick, and one of my friends actually had to call his doctor. Happily, the place went out of business by the end of the month.

Brimshack, way to dig the D&D-player stereotype into a deeper hole.

Hey, I confirm stereptypes on a daily basis. 4 days a weak I teach Native Americans that white people really are rude, pushy, overbearing, and generally obnoxious, or at least that this one is. The least I could do is make sure to mess things up for a couple other categories I happen to fall into.

It's better today because I actually heated up the leftovers in the micro. Don't know why I didn't consider that last night. Could it have been the beer? Nah.

Once I tried it that way, I'll never go back to microwaving pizza unless there isn't any other option.

With some pizzas, that is the best way to eat them.

GAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH! Will it never end?!
The last free pizza delivery was uneventful. The pizza was on time, I gave the driver the post card and a tip. The cycle should have been broken then.
Today, in the mail: "We are sorry our recent service was unsatisfactory." WTF?! I am really, really fucking curious as to how long I can drag this thing out.
On the bright side, I bought a GF grill today, so they can continue to deliver it as cold as they please!

There's your answer. Yeah. You probably tip so well that the guy's all "hey, she likes this free pizza deal and I get great tips. I'm gonna tell the home office she still wasn't happy." Or something.

I hope you got one of the newer ones that are easier to clean. Hubster loved his but stopped using it because you have to drag the whole thing over to the sink to wash it... and be careful not to get the heating element wet! How did they sell so many of these without the removable surface feature?

Shit, Ensign, I wouldn't knock that deal! Free is damn hard to beat!
Our local pizza place sells their large cheese pie for $5 every Monday. I get dinner for me and the kid that night, plus a couple of days of lunches for me from that. When we get two, there's lots left over!

Actually if you plug it in for a minute so it warms up a bit, you can wash the most heinously stuck on crap off it with a wet paper towel. I've been doing that to both my large and small grills for six months now with no problems. :yup:

Inspired by my own post, I walked into the kitchen and plugged in the big GF I had cooked a couple chicken breasts on 2 days ago but was too lazy to clean, soaked a paper towel (okay two, actually), cleaned it, unplugged it, dried it with another paper towel, and came back here. Look at the timestamps on my posts! :)

I'm starting to wonder if "goerge" is dishing out payola to a number of people on this board.
I wish I was trapped in a perpetual free money loop.

Do you think that they could open a branch in Canada? Sounds too good to be real.
