View Full Version : Fuckers broke into my house!

Leesifer

I couldn't get in tonight because it seemed like the latch on my lock had locked itself. Called a locksmith who got me in.

Some fuckers have broken in through the conservatory. Took out a window. Loads of drawers open - but nothing taken except my Amazon delivery of the last Pirates dvd.

Waiting for the police now.

Fuckers!

So you're saying that you paid a locksmith to let you into your house when you could have gotten in thru the same broken window the theives got in through? :duh:

Oh, also, sorry about the burglary. :badday:

Oh no, man that blows chucks. I can't imagine what it feels like having your private space so violated.

It makes me nervous about my own place.

Neighbourhood kids. To be sure, you should probably eliminate all of them.

Oh Leesifer, how rotten! Glad to hear that they don't appear to have gotten away with much loot, but nonetheless the feeling of violation must be lousy.

I hope there were no spare sets of keys around for them to take? :shiftier:

I'm so fucking angry at the moment. Can't see me sleeping much tonight and I don't really want anyone to come over - I'm just not in the mood.

In the conservatory, you say? I bet it was that bastard Professor Plum with a wrench.

Okay srlsy, that blows, Lees. I felt violated when someone stole my backpack out of my locker in high school. I don't even want to imagine how much a break-in screws with your peace of mind. :badday:

Oh, and I've just seen that they kicked the toilet around a bit. WTF?

It's all at an angle - I hadn't been into the bathroom yet tonight.

That's awful, been there myself, but had much more taken. Um, didn't note some stuff that went missing at the time-you might want to keep checking. Had the same experience, front door was latched when I tried to open it. Backdoor had been broken into, however.

When it happened to me years ago, in an apartment, the front door was left wide open and the immediate problem was that my dog was missing (took two days to find him). They took a 600.00 (at that time) camera, and hubby's stash of Playboys. Neighbor kid for sure, but the police didn't compare the perfect shoe print on my bedrail or actually investigate in any way.

It's an icky feeling to be sure.

I know how it feels, Lees. Two nights ago someone broke into my car and stole my radio, then opened the boot and stole my CD shuttle. I hardly ever listen to anything when I drive, but its the principle, y'know.

As has been said, that blows chunks.

We haven't had much problem since the neighborhood went "Crime Watch". A local rental in the neighborhood was the scene of a auto theft "ring" (a teen whose boyfriend, and his thug friends, had terrified the mother into keeping her trap shut). That, plus several homes in the immediate vicinity are "home occupations", so we have eyes on the neighborhood most of the time.

This, of course, has not stopped the "opportunity" thieves from stealing the wicker couch from my next door neighbor's front porch. But, being a good 10'-15' above the public walkway, with no drive, and exceedingly difficult to move anything heavy or bulky, certainly aids the burglar resistance of my home. Plus, now we have a roomer who's there when we aren't.

Do you know your neighbors? It's possible you know them well enough that you don't want to know them any better, but, if it's possible, acquainting yourself with the neighborhood snoop can be a big boon to your security....if they know who's supposed to be there and who's not.

I'm sorry to hear that your security was breached and your most intimate environment besmirched. It does sound like a quick breakin' n' enterin', grab quick goodies and get the hell out. Pure amatuer hour.

OMG! I can't even begin to tell you how fucking angry and upset I am right now.

I logged the call 5 fucking hours ago. No response. I've had 2 calls back from the police after I chased them at least 4 times.

I can't secure my house. My mum is trying to sleep on my sofa.

And the last call they were all "oh, well, somebody should have kept you informed". "We've had a number of emergencies". Translate that to kids being pissed in the town centre and fighting. And I called him on that and he hummed and hawed about it.

Fuck me! I live on my own. A whole window has been removed. Fuckers!

Well, hooray! I had a visit from 2 policewomen. They took down some details and the scenes of crime people will be here sometime tomorrow.

I am at the end of my tether now. It's nearly 2:30 a.m. and I still have a missing window and a kicked in wooden door securing my house from the back garden.

Yay me!

Could my luck get any better? I mean, the last few years have been just GREAT!

Yeah...I know the feeling.

In the last five years, I lost my wife to cancer, had the bank which carried my mortgage try to gouge $16,000 out of me, got booted off II, twice booted off HH, accused and disciplined for "sexual harrassment" at work, diagnosed with Type II diabetes and then hypertension, disciplined for doing my job and a patron lying about me, censored at work, and laid off after a fellow employee with less seniority was promoted to protect him (and then rehired after the death of my good friend and coworker). Now that my supervisor retired, I've been treated with having the supervisor, with whom I went hammer and tongs with over contract details five years back, elevated to being my present immediate supervisor, and left hanging at the bottom of the seniority ladder with the institutional CEO announcing staff cuts of 15%-20% in the upcoming year.

Fuckin' fun, ain't it?

Thankfully, I have not yet been mugged, shived, shot, or burgled. And I still have health insurance through my employer.

No personal attacks. No injuries. Minimal property loss or damage. They'd probably rate it pretty low here in the US.

In fairness, you could have been a lot worse off. Bernard Dwyer hit the news today in court in London in the trial of three people who burgled his house. They were believed to have killed a woman in a burglary the previous night. Mr Dwyer is not a small gentleman, and defeated all three in hand-to-hand combat, thus was better off than Helen Chung.

So sorry that you are having to go through this Lees. We had our home burgled about 20 years ago. They kicked in the front door and took all the high-end electronics (which meant they didn't even touch the Apple IIe). The feeling of vulnerability that such an experience engenders is simply awful. Nevertheless, you will survive this too, because you are strong.

Leesifer
01-25-2008, 11:03 AM
Thanks everybody!

So, I've had a community policeman round to ask some questions to see if they can link it in with the other burglarys that have happened recently. Apparently, there've been quite a few!

I've also had scenes of crime people round. They found one glove print which is useless.

At least now I can tidy up and sort out getting the window replaced.

Are you sure nothing else is missing? If the little bastards broke into my house, I'm sure that they would be able to nick lots of stuff that I might not miss straight away.

Hope you can get your window sorted out soon. Apart from the security concerns, it must be cold. :shiver:

Leesifer
01-25-2008, 11:55 AM
I haven't noticed anything else missing, cep.

The window leads onto the conservatory, so it's not too cold - in fact, luckily, it's quite mild today.
