My PS2 after 6+ years of near constant use and abuse (Cause remember I have an 8 year old son and a 6 year old daughter) has departed from this dear world.

You will be missed dear friend...all those long nights we spent together bashing head crabs with the crow bar will never be forgotten. You were a dear and loyal friend that survived amazing feats of valor...like that time when the 3 year old boy dropped that 2 litres of Cherry Kool-aid on you, or when he decided to feed you crackers.

Ahhh Dear friend...remember that time when you fell off the top of the TV and your case cracked? I thought you were a goner that day, I wept for you as I carefully smashed you with my hand to make you go back together. Or the giggles of sheer joy when I first put in that Bob the builder game and the small child played his very first video game ever? Or the whipping around of your controler cord caused by the little girl playing her very own special just for her Mickey Mouse game?

And dear friend, even though you were replaced recently by the newer cooler Wii, you still recieved love and attention, heck the boy child just spent some of his christmas money on a new game to play on you last week!

And so dear friend you will be missed greatly......until friday, which is payday, when I will go to costco and replace you with a new 1/3 the size with a built in modem for gaming on-line model of a PS2...maybe the shiney chrome one...because while you may be dead....I still need my Half life fix!

My PS went down fighting. It was thrown in the bin when my fundy sister decided it and the games I had given to my nephews after years of good service, were "occult" (we're talking Tekken here). Yeah... the same sister let the boys see LOTR, being a classic of English Literature and all, but not Harry Potter on account of being a corrupting influence. I was quite PO'd since the fact that I could still go round and play Tekken with my nephews definitely influenced the decision to give it to them.

Lets raise a glass to our old companions, all those PS' and PS2s, Gameboys, Nintendos and other gaming consoles that have given us so much joy who are now enthroned in the halls of console Valhalla.

Just a note: If you start thinking about those new cheap PS3's as an upgrade:

The cheap ones do not play PS2 games. At all.

There is also the issue that the ones that do are quickly becoming extinct.

Maybe it's something in the air, but 'our' PS3 died this weekend. :sadnana:

I'm already suffering Burnout Paradise withdrawl.
