Apparently Spongebob and his undersea buddies are vehicles of homosexual propoganda. Can you believe it?

I find it utterly ironic that the moral majority runs around looking for 'perversion' in absolutely everything in a misguided effort to somehow preserve innocence, and in the process they completely destroy innocence.

Way to go, arseholes! Grrrr.

I think they got the "We Are Family" bugaboo from end of "The Birdcage" when Gene Hackman is in drag. In any case, it looks like the usual loonies who had a spaz over Tinky Winky being gay.

Yes. Yes I'm afraid it is.

:cigar: <-- This guy is trying too hard to look macho, something's gotta be up

This is how they infiltrate our schools: by looking more manly than we do.

As for this guy: :flambe: Perfect sautee technique, running away like a sissy at a little fire, aka flame, aka flaming homosexual. See how it all comes together?

Er, if he were flaming then why would he be afraid of fire?

Is he a self-loathing gay?

There's another smiley I'd out, but he's been adopted by a particular admin as a trademark.

Gayer than a tree full of green monkeys on nitrous oxide.

I love that quote... Anyway,

Apparently Spongebob and his undersea buddies are vehicles of homosexual propoganda.
WOOHOO! Everytime I see this, whether it's true or not, it makes me happy for some stupid reason. Maybe it just proves the point that people like this obsess more over homosexuality than homosexuals do themselves.

Though this in one of the links disturbed the fuck out of me...
...the incidence of homosexual practitioners molesting children is up to 40 times greater than heterosexuals.
WTF!? I mean that's just a crock of shit. Paedophiles are paedophiles, not "homosexuals". Gods, these people make me sick. BOTH of them.

I haven't seen it, but I heard tell that Patrick carried a flagpole between his buttcheeks? And two male characters rubbing their bottoms against each other? I need to see this flick! Mr. Capalert says there is way too much 'posterior' in this film, but he didn't think it was gay. And he thinks everything is gay. Pussy joke? Do tell!

Okay, I don't know how you did that (and don't really want to) but, yeah, it looks like Spongebob has his hand down the front of Patrick's jam trunks. Of course, I think you picked up the bluish flower pattern on the front of Patrick's suit, so it could just look that way.

Thanks for the clarification.

Y'know...

I hate to be a wet blanket, but maybe somebody can set my mind at ease.

Could the owners/administrators of this site get themselves in a legal jam by using copyrighted images like Spongebob and the Simpson figures?

This is a serious concern, liv. I'm not trying to be a smartass. I've heard very credible reports about the Disney people and "their images"....but I don't know how far that attitude goes in the business.

godfry n. concerned

livius drusus
01-22-2005, 01:32 AM
We could very well be subject to a cease and desist. It's been known to happen, mainly for fan sites because of the concentration of copyrighted images. Fair use is a nebulous area, so should we be asked to take those images down by the copyright holders, we would in all likelihood comply.

I appreciate your concern, godfry. Thank you.

godfry n. glad
01-22-2005, 02:28 AM
Is that the usual response from a copyright owner, to demand removal of the image? A cease and desist?

I live and breathe copyright because of my work, yet I've never seen an enforcement. The one I'd heard of was at a local small hole-in-the-wall taqueria, La Sirenita. They did fine until the restaurant became popular enough for them to get coverage in the local newspaper, where the cramped interior picture showed the image of the Disney Little Mermaid on the wall. They were contacted within the week about the image and it had to change...fast.

Thanks, liv.

Stephen Bennet (who we discussed wrt to his speaking at Helen's church) is one of the ones on this bandwagon.

I just saw a guy on ABC News beg his fellow conservative Christians to quit making them all look "silly", and he pointed to the Tinky Winky and Burt and Ernie gay-agenda uproars as being examples of this goofiness. He seemed really embarassed.

What kinda place you running here??

Is that the usual response from a copyright owner, to demand removal of the image? A cease and desist?

Yeah, they'll send a cease and desist with some kind of deadline. They may or may not check again. Usually they only bother if A) the use of the copyrighted item could result in profit for the person using it B) there is likely to be confusion about the affiliation between the two parties C) the use could be considered embarassing or detrimental to the copyright holder's business.

SpongeBob receives 'unequivocal welcome' from UCC (http://www.ucc.org/news/r012405.htm)

"Absolutely, the UCC extends an unequivocal welcome to SpongeBob," the Rev. John H. Thomas, the UCC's general minister and president, said, only partly in jest. "Jesus didn't turn people away. Neither do we."

For that matter, Thomas explained, the 1.3-million-member church, if given the opportunity, would warmly receive Barney, Big Bird, Tinky-Winky, Clifford the Big Red Dog or, for that matter, any who have experienced the Christian message as a harsh word of judgment rather than Jesus' offering of grace.

Well in Dobson's defense he apparently never accused Spongebob of being gay, he simply expressed "great concern about the intention of the We Are Family Foundation in using SpongeBob and company to promote the theme of "tolerance and diversity," which are almost always buzzwords for homosexual advocacy". The film itself, he says, is "harmless".

But while the video is harmless on its own, I believe the agenda behind it is sinister. My brief comments at the FRC gathering were intended to express concern not about SpongeBob or Big Bird or any of their other cartoon friends, but about the way in which those childhood symbols are apparently being hijacked to promote an agenda that involves teaching homosexual propaganda to children. Nevertheless, the media jumped on the story by claiming that I had accused SpongeBob of being "gay." Some suggested that I had confused the organization that had created the video with a similarly named gay-rights group. In both cases, the press was dead wrong, and I welcome this opportunity to help them get their facts straight.

I want to be clear: the We Are Family Foundation — the organization that sponsored the video featuring SpongeBob and the other characters was, until this flap occurred, making available a variety of explicitly pro-homosexual materials on its Web site. It has since endeavored to hide that fact (more on this later), but my concerns are as legitimate today as they were when I first expressed them in January.
