Kiddo asked me for a Woody doll, as Toy Story is one of his faves. So, both Toy Story and TS2 are fairly old, and I couldn't find new dolls via Disney shopping, and I headed over to eBay...of course.

Some people were charging 40.00, describing their dolls as "rare" because they had Tom Hanks voice and/or "ANDY" written on the bottom of the boot. Having bought a crappy Buzz Lightyear (too small, no laser, not Tim Allen's voice) and being disappointed with it, I really wanted one of these way better authenticer Woodies, but didn't want to pay 40.00. I spent two weeks trying to win a damned Woody and all went out of my price range, or I got sniped.

So, I resigned myself to the fact that Kiddo don't care, that it is/was all my own hang ups, and decided to buy one with a Buy It Now price of like 15.00. I assumed it was like the Buzz I had bought, some sort of shitty after market knock off, because the description didn't mention anything about its "rarity". Guess fucking what? Tom Hanks voice, ANDY on the boot, the whole shebang. I am thrilled, Kiddo is thrilled.

Side Note: I bought the crappy Buzz from Disney Shopping for like 6.50 clearance. On eBay some are trying to get 25+ for the exact same crappy one! Next I am shopping for a non crappy Buzz, but am holding out for a reasonable seller

Congrats to you and Kiddo!

Is it a plush doll with pull string? Or a plastic "action figure"?

Just asking out of curiosity, there are a ton of different Woody's out there, it seems.

Plush (except for the head and boots) with a pull string, full size like 14".

LadyShea, I hope you and kiddo have lots of fun with Woody. I like eBay too, I've been buying and selling there since 1999

We've had many a Buzz lightyear doll in this house. A few Woody's Too.

The most loved loved Buzz hands down is this one :)

Well, thanks to TomJoe, I'm not gonna make any comments on the size of your Woody.

You definitely did great, that's one of the best ones to get, IMO. So, are you gonna replace the "ANDY" with Kiddo's name? Or may be right his name on the other boot?

LOL...the doll's name is not my fault!!!

As for adding Kiddo's name, I think I may leave it as is. No telling how long he will be a Toy Story fan, and it's a nice enough doll I may keep it as a collectible when he's done with it.

So Wei, how do you know so much about it? From your other thread I thought your collecting was limited to nerd stuff...but you're downright Disneyfied apparently.

I am a pop culture freak, really. I know way too much about these trivial things, although Toy Story does have a special place in my heart.

This isn't too surprising since the movie is all about toys coming to life. And while my preferred toy hobbies are more nerd-ilicious, it's a common wish to pretend that they've come to life.

And I am Disneyfied, although probably more Pixar-ish, to be specific.

I'd love one of those Buzz Light Year dolls myself...

But sadly my "kiddos" are much too old for that sort of thing.

The last thing I bought off of E-bay was college text books for my daughter.

:sigh:

Dammmm...I'm feeling old...lol

"We" have one of those Woody dolls... er, action figures. You CAN still buy them in stores. I think "ours" came from Walmart.

I couldn't find them new at the damn store, dammit...not online or in person. Would have saved me time and money! Maybe Oklahoma Walmarts are where they send all the old stuff.

I owned all of Kiddos current fave movies before we even knew he existed, LOL. That's not even counting my other Disneyana. I don't need a kid to have my Disney stuff.

Oh no! That's up here in MI!! I had to paw through the cereal for godsakes, to find one that wasn't expired! They probably have Captain Kangaroo and Howdy Doody in the toy department. :glare:
