Idle thought (my speciality): earlier I was browsing with images turned off to try to overcome horrendous slowness. I won't do this often, but I wasn't able to see which forums had new posts?

Could you set some alt-text or "title" for the psi images forum-new.gif / forum-old.gif? The browser will either display the text in place of the image or at least display it in a tip on mouse-over (depending on W3C compliance and my understanding of the whole thing).

Excellent suggestion, JoeP. I myself am utterly ignant on the matter, but Tom will be with you shortly.

Thanks for the tip, Joe. I'll see what I can do today.

Well it was a bit more challenging than I expected, but I was able to do it. :)

And it's working fine

'Course, it's completely wrong about what's unread, but that's another post.

Thanks! Setting alt text for an image is easy, but the tricky part was writing the conditional to make it alternate between "new posts" and "no new posts". Not tricky for anyone with more than a month or so of php and vBulletin experience I'm sure, but tricky for me. :)

I suppose you'll want me to solve world hunger when I wrap that up.
